Situated in a vineyard location with stunning views, our gîte offers a unique holiday experience in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon. There are also 2 supermarkets, several banks, a post office, tabac (where you can buy international newspapers), Maison du Vin, boulangerie , boucherie and some restaurants & bars. There is also a great boulangerie in Cébazan which is 5 mins from the vineyard by car but worth the trip!

The beaches around Béziers, Gruissan, Narbonne and Sête are around an hour away and the Canal du Midi (Le Somail) is literally only 20mins from the vineyard where you can rent a boat for the day ambling along the canal.

For the more adventurous, there is a riding school in Assignan (10mins), kayaking on the River Orb & Hérault (20mins), swimming in the river at Bize (10mins) or Roquebrun (20mins), sailing on the étang in Marseillan (1 hour), cycling with Mellow Vélos exploring the local countryside and much more.

A bit further out you can head up into the National Park of Haut Languedoc towards St Pons which is a spa town where people used to get their drinking water, and still do in some cases. St Guilhem Le Desert is a wonderful car free village in the mountains close to the Grotte des Damemoiselles where you can explore the cobbold stone houses and artisan's gift shops and have a refreshing cool drink under the large tree in the square.

We have a large, 12m pool which is heated and a pool house with shower/WC which is available to all our guests. All towels & linen are provided. The gitegîte is cleaned once a week, with fresh towels & linen provided. If you need anything, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.

Guests are invited to relax on the terrace with a glass of Combebelle during their stay with us where they can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean & the Pyrenees.

There are some excellent local restaurants close by serving a variety of local dishes and wines such as La Croisade in Cruzy (literally along side the Canal du Midi) and L'Olivier in Cabezac, La Grange in Bize. A local taxi service is on hand to take you to/from the restaurant so that you do not have to worry about “drink/driving”! A bit further afield in Béziers you can sample great cuisine at Au Soleil with a glass of Combebelle rosé! There are also a variety of lovely restaurants in Capestang, Beaufort, Aigues Vives & Bizes – so take your pick!

We are keen to welcome all our guests to Combebelle and will provide a Welcome Pack of some local produce.
Please note that the gîte is non-smoking and we are not able to accept pets.

Location description from owner

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

This is a beautiful region, relatively unspoilt (particularly around Combebelle), yet within an hour from 3 major airports (Montpellier, Beziers & Carcassonne) and 3 beaches (Narbonne Plage, Valras Plage and Sete).

There are plenty of things to do, including a day trip to Spain (which is only one hour from the property) for those looking to buy some delicious cured ham or Manchego cheese!

The region is well known for the range of wines it produces and "guaranteed" sunshine! Why not book a wine tour to visit some of the regions producers, tasting a wide range of wines and sampling the local cuisine?

The region is ideal of hiking, canoeing, beach and plenty more.

Historical places such as Minerve is only 20 minutes from the property, whilst the wonderful town Narbonne with its fantastic covered market is only 35 minutes away.

We provide a list of local activities and attractions for visitors to Combebelle.

Agel

There is plenty to do near Combebelle:

- visit the organic goat farm next door where they make award-winning cheeses. Ideal for young children and adults alike!

- visit the local market in Saint Chinian on Thursdays and Sundays, a hive of activity and plenty to see and buy.

- visit the medieval village of Minerve where the two rivers (Aude & Herault) have formed a gorge.

- visit Beziers and walk around this old city with a beautiful cathedral. In August they host the "feria" & you can sample the art of bull fighting as well as watch the parade of matadors in the centre of town. There is also some late night Spanish dancing in the cathedral!

- during July and August, Pezenas (45 minutes) stays open on Wednesday & Friday with plenty of entertainment and music.

- Narbonne (35 minutes) is a wonderful town to visit with its cathedral, famous covered market "Les Halles" and plenty of local bars & restaurants.

- Gruissan is a lovely old fishing town next to Narbonne Plage

- if you like fruits de mer and Picpoul de Pinet visit Bouzigues for a long lunch overlooking the etang where oyster farms dominate.

- plenty of activities include kayaking in Roquebrun, Go Ape in Beziers, animal safair park in Sigean and of course cycling along the canal du midi or hiking in the National Park of Languedoc and much more!
