Location description from owner

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

Languedoc is a diverse region offering something for everyone.

The endless sandy beaches edged by the blue azure Mediterranean sea proves an ideal location to enjoy the record breaking sunshine days. For those who are energetic there is scuba diving, jet skiing, wind surfing or sailing, for those that are not, there are numerous beach bars to try where you can drink exotic cocktails or just soak up the sun on a sun lounger

The towns and villages with their historical heritage in evidence give the visitor an unique insight of times gone by, where wars were once staged to gain riches that Languedoc harbored.

No trip to the region is complete without experiencing the vibrancy of a 'French ' market held nearly every day somewhere in the region. This is truly a colorful local gathering with fresh food producers and artisans standing side by side shouting their wares.

As France's biggest wine producing area, a trip to one of the many wineries is a must and will prove to be an enjoyable experience as you taste the many varieties of wine the region can offer.

The mountainous area to the north and to the west offers meandering walks back in time, challenging rock climbs, exhilarating canyoning and kayaking and spectacular drives through the limestone scenery.

Add to this the numerous fetes and festivals throughout the year and you have all the ingredients to enjoy the French 'Joie de vivre' as you spend your holiday here in Languedoc.

Agde

The town of Agde is a town rich with history where three waters meet; the River Herault, the Canal du Midi and the Mediterranean Sea. It is the second oldest town in France. Also known as The Black Pearl due to the volcanic explosions around i000s of years ago which have leant the town the abundant buildings in basalt.

Today it is a busy town with a main promenade, quaint winding streets, attractive shops, terraced cafes, waterside restaurants, local museums, weekly flea, flower, food and general markets; not to be missed!
