Location description from owner

The Saronic Gulf Islands region

The island of Aegina can be reached by ferry from the port of Piraeus and it takes 1 hour - the cost of the ticket (depending on the kind of boat) is euro 9-13)
Aegina has a great history, as the first capital of Greece, and in ancient times as the second largest fleet after Athens.
Has a lot of monasteries, the ancient temple of Afea Athena - similar to Parthenon - and a lot of picturistic traditional villages.

Aegina

The island of Aegina enjoys a very moderate climate throughout the year, a lot of sunshine and pleasant temperatures.
A visitor could be very busy exploring ancient temples, old monasteries, traditional villages, medieval beautiful churches, plus a lot of beautiful restaurants by the sea.
There are several festivals throughout the summer.
Alternatively a visit to Athens or islands of Hydra and Spetses and return the same day is always part of any program.
Swimming in the crystal clear sea is a great pleasure during the hot hours of the summer days.
