Self catering holiday cottage on a tranquil smallholding near the coast at Aberystwyth. We take pride in the fact that our cottages are comfortable, spacious, stylish and clean and we look forward to offering you a warm Welsh welcome. Set in a delightful natural location with a stream and overlooking lush meadows. The Cambrian Mountains and unspoiled river valleys are only a short drive away or why not enjoy a trip on a narrow gauge railway instead. Activities such as horse riding, cycling, swimming, sailing, walking, golf and fishing are all available on the doorstep.

Spacious modern Lounge/Dining with 2 large patio doors overlooking paved patio and countryside. Kitchen is fully fitted. Large twin bedded (or linked for Super-king) bedroom overlooks patio and open countryside.

Patio areas to the North for shade and to the South and West for sunning are all paved. The sea can be viewed from the gate through the lush meadow and visitors are welcome to enjoy the surrounding areas of the small holding. In particular strolling the covered lane along the stream is a delight not to be missed.

Doleos cottage was just what we were looking for, a relaxing stay in the countryside close to the seaside. My Partner and I stayed for 3 nights.The owner Marylin met us on arrival on the first day and quickly without too much fuss explained everything we needed to know about the cottage. Nice touch to find a welcome pack of bread, milk, jam and Welsh butter. The cottage is bright and airy with excellent facilities, comfy beds and a nice outdoor seating area where you can hear the birdsong. We will definitely book again for s short stay next year.

“Perfect for a winter getaway, can only wonder at how beautiful it must be in summer.”
Having just read the single poor review I really can't understand it. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break and found Marilyn to be a perfect host. So where do I start? When we arrived the charm of the cottage, its beautiful setting and character were immediately apparent, but it's only when you settle in that you get a real sense of the passion that has been put into its renovation. Marilyn is clearly a believer in the old adage 'buy nice, or buy twice' as everything within the cottage is high quality and it's obvious that a great deal of thought has gone into every detail. While all the beds and sofas are comfortable, my personal favourite was the chair next to the (well stocked) bookcase, an ideal cwtch in which to settle with a good book and a cup of tea. Talking of which, we really appreciated the fresh milk and selection of teas and coffees available so that we didn't have to shop before we settled, while the delicious chocolate biscuits were appreciated by more than the children! I could wax lyrical about so much more, its idyllic setting, Aberystwyth being comfortably close, the soothing sound of the boundary stream. I could go on but will simply close with everybody's favourite bits. Son (7) "it's by the sea" Daughter (2) "Pretty garden!" while my wife loved the bedroom and me? Well I really did like that chair...

The cottage is very basic and not shown in the picture but attached to the owners property so not very private. You get no wifi or signal within the cottage you have to step outside which wasn't a big deal just a bit annoying for phone calls. The cottage was clean and provided with a few essentials like milk and bread. My daughter stayed in the small put up bed provided this didn't have a bottom sheet or mattress protector just a duvet I'm guessing to make the bed more comfortable? Unfortunately my little girl had a wee accident (not something that happens often but can't be helped) onto the duvet. The owner reacted to this very badly sending a rude message and then taking deposit from us. I found this very sad as children have accidents and it was not our fault the correct bedding was not provided in the first place. I would advise getting a matteress protector in the future as the owners cleaning bill is expensive for such accidents. Would only advise couple to stay here.
Owner's reply: Dear reader, Please view my detailed response to this retaliatory and vexatious review which I am currently disputing with Tripadvisor. Also consider that this young woman caused damage and left my cottage in a disgraceful state. I and my husband (to the rescue) spent a total of 7 hours getting it ready for following arrivals. This guest stated in her email that it was ‘up to the maid’ to clean up the mess!!! It normally takes me 1-2 hours for changeover as guests always try to leave the cottage ‘as they found it’. I have never experienced such disrespectful behaviour or attitude and parts of her emails are unprintable and offensive. Crockery was left in the bedroom as were filthy nappies. Dirty mugs were put in the cupboard though most of the dirty dishes were left on worktops. The fridge was full of used junk food and spills, worktops and tables filthy and all the bins inside were overflowing. Totally detached cottage and certainly NOT attached to my property. The nearest building is a redundant historical stone built old coach-house and stables – full of character but not habitable or used. My dwelling is 50 metres away and most reviewers appreciate the privacy, peace and natural surroundings. I don’t advertise WiFi at the cottage but do offer use at my conservatory. BT have installed equipment nearby and I am assured Super Broadband will be connected soon so WiFi will be available. Most mobile phones do work inside but apparently not Tina’s! The cottage, as always was spotlessly, ‘pristine’, clean as were bedding and towels. I provided Fresh bread, litre milk, pack Welsh butter, full pack quality chocolate biscuits, Welsh eggs and Welsh cheese. Also plenty of tea coffee and sugar for the duration of the stay. The folding bed certainly had a bottom sheet as did the 2 single beds. They are a waterproof superior brand – ‘Protect-a-Bed’. Problem was that the bedding (duvet & cover) had been thoroughly wetted and left in a heap on the bare mattress allowing seepage and odours to penetrate. My reaction was reasonable and I was most certainly NOT rude in my messaging, unlike Tina. She has retaliated for having to pay for damage she was liable for. I did not charge for dealing with the mattress/bed-wetting but only for the permanent damage to my property. Correct bedding was provided and the children (age 1 & 4) stayed free of charge. I also provided plenty of toys, videos and jigsaws (also ruined but not charged for). Mattress protectors were on the beds. I only charged for the duvet and cover - used by the adults - which were permanently stained blue/purple. Also for the towels that were permanently stained. I put all of the damaged laundry through 2 vigorous hot washes – using Vanish – which normally works but the staining was permanent. I provided Tina with photos which she did not dispute and consequently she agreed to the charge being made via Tripadvisor. I made no charge for dealing with the staining to my curtain lining, my ruined tea-cloths, 2 ruined cushions (left in the rain) or for the 5 additional hours it took for the changeover.
“Very nice extremely well kept cottage in peaceful surroundings”
Our stay at the cottage was short but sweet. The furnishings and facilities within the cottage are all like new and spotless. Marilyn kindly made sure that there was milk, teabags and coffee waiting for us as well as a good supply of biscuits. We enjoyed our stay very much and I recommend the cottage to anybody who is looking for plenty of quiet and perhaps a bit of wild life watching. Of course only a couple of miles away you can also visit Aberystwyth for shopping or a pub lunch. Thank you very much Marilyn.

“Excellent place to stay”
I booked to stay 4 nights over the Christmas period. This place is great. Clean and cosy and everything you could need is there. A very well equipped kitchen. Marilyn has thought of everything you could need in the cottage. The sofa bed was made up ready for us. It's in the living area but you still have plenty of room when it's out. the cottage is about 10 minutes from the main town by car and very easy to get to. It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of town or a city and relax and take in the great views surrounding it. At night when sat outside can even hear the owls in the distance. Wonderful. When asked where to eat we was recommended the carlton on the main high st. A great little place. I would gladly book here again should I go to Aberystwyth again.

Spent 4 nights with my Mum at this lovely cottage, everything you could wish for was there, the accomodation is very clean, has a bright and airy feel about it. Great location with wonderful owners.
