“Mrs”
Wonderfully spacious comfortable cottage, very clean, easy access to all Speyside has to offer. Very friendly hosts and cute dog!!
Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your holiday, it was lovely to meet you. We look forward to seeing you soon. Craggan says woof!
“outstandingly good with a great homely feel”
The house is centrally located and extremely comfortable. It has excellent living space, a lovely enclosed garden and so was very people and dog friendly. There were lots of interesting books, music, videos and games for cosy winter evenings indoors after wonderful daytime walks.
“Wonderful location which suited all of our needs, extremely helpful and friendly owners.”
We booked this rental (my sister ,brother and I) to take our 85year old Mother to visit a Woodland Trust Urquhart Bay Wood on the banks of Loch Ness. We had a quarter of an acre of land dedicated to our father who had died 3 years ago. So it was important for us all to come and visit it. Aberlour is a favourite place of ours cradled in the lap of beauty, the River Spey is a few minutes away, so great walks to be had. Aberlour has all you require, great eateries, and within a short distance from so many tourist attractions. There is a downstairs bedroom in the property and 2 bedrooms upstairs which was ideal. The living accomodation was great, with an outside decking area overlooking the garden for when the weather was warm. We felt very cosy, warm and at home there. The only drawback for us was that my mother was unable to get into the bath as it was too high for easy access as she has mobility problems, and the shower was in the bath, so she was unable to shower either. Liz and Stan (the owners) could not have been more helpful. Stan even acted as a taxi service for us one night to take us to the Craigellachie hotel, as it was our Mum's and my sister's birthday. We will be back to stay again, but not with our Mum.
“Excellent”
A group of us stay in the guest house and the adjoining house. All the rooms were very comfortable. The facilities in the house were excellent. It has a fantastic location at the heart of Aberlour Village..Stan and Liz are excellent hosts .
“A great location for trips north, south, east and west.”
This cottage is in an excellent location for doing scenic trips, visiting areas of historical importance and of course the distillery trail. Liz and Stan are very welcoming. The kitchen is well-equipped generally and there is plenty of space in the lounge. There is also an outside area which, unfortunately, we could not take advantage of because of the weather. It's a pity there is only one bathroom/toilet as 5 people would appreciate a second. A non-slip mat for the bath might prevent potential slips for those over 60! The town has a hotel and an eating pub, an excellent deli, a co-op, 2 banks and other shops all within walking distance from the cottage. It is just 2 miles from Craigellachie (can be reached on foot via a river side walkway) where there is a lovely hotel and a good whisky pub. All in all really good and we did not let the weather bother us!
“Very pleasant and enjoyable.”
The property is well-maintained. The furniture, kitchen equipment, bathroom are in top shape. The rooms are large relative to European standard. The heating system works very well. Parking at the side street are aplenty and safe because the town is safe. There are good restaurants close by. Grocery store is very close. The Butcher, Dave, is only a few steps away and our rib eye steak were cut perfectly. Stan, the co-owner, could not help us enough and is always available. We joked on him that we are not going to recommend his place so we won't have competition in booking this property in the future. It's really an excellent find and to be able to book this place at the height of the Speyside Whisky Festival is a surprise. Free WiFi is fast with 3-6 web surfers at the same time. Also check out Charles Gammack across the street. He made me a custom-built belt with my initial on it. He was Queen Elizabeth's saddler on her coronation. Most of all this is a perfect location to enjoy your wee dram in every internationally-known distilleries around the area. Drink responsibly.
