Description

Our self-catering cottage sleeps 2 in a simple but cosy environment. There is a large living room with dining area and a wood burning stove (wood nearby). There is a double bed on the mezzanine floor which can be used as two singles if required. Free WiFi, there is a TV with DVD/VCR in the comfortable sitting area, and the new kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, dish washer, washing machine, fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. All bedding and towels are provided and there is oil central heating and double glazing throughout. Outside there is a patio with a chimnea, dining furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue . The boiler house provides a drying room should we lapse on the weather. Dogs are welcome and love it here - they bring their owners back regularly to walk up onto the Sugar Loaf directly from the cottage.

The farm backs onto the oak woodland and open moorland of the Sugar Loaf, allowing you to walk and explore the magnificent views and countryside, leaving your car safely parked on the yard.

Getting around

Abergavenny has a mainline railway station and there are buses that go from the bus station to Brecon,Cardiff and the Valleys. We have no local buses coming our way but the Sustrans cycle route goes past the end of the road below us. There are multiple taxi companies in Abergavenny who come up here regularly. The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority runs a bus service further into the park on Sundays, but this programme changes yearly so needs to be researched further

“Relaxing short break”

The cottage is in an idyllic location with stunning views and ideally located for a walking break. The owners, Chris and Sandra, are very friendly and make feel welcome immediately you arrive. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to come back at some time.

What a wonderful long weekend. Sandra and Chris have thought about everything, extremely well equipped cottage set in beautiful peaceful surroundings. You can literally step outside the back gate into forest that take you on walks with views over the hilltops. It is conveniently located to access shops and the town centre but far away enough to get away from it all. Everything is inclusive, no hidden charges like you find with some holiday lettings. Very cosy and comfortable with the charm you would expect from a little stone cottage.

“Superb week”

Wow! is all we keep saying...we had a great holiday, a week at the beginning of June 2013 staying in Shepherds cottage. which was cosy and homely with everything you need. The owners are very laid back and make you feel very welcome; nothing is too much trouble. The views and location of Shepherds Cottage are fantastic; it's close to Abergavenny town, and a good place to travel from for your sightseeing trips out, but is situated up on the hill in the peace and quiet. It was great to find somewhere that we could just open the door and let the dogs run without out them coming to harm and just let them enjoy themselves in the fields surrounding the property before we took them out for walks to LLagorse lake and up the Sugar loaf at the back of the cottage, (which took us about 2 hours ish to get to the top. The Waterfall Walks a well worth as visit too. We would strongly recommend this a cottage and location... we have booked to go back again next year.

How do damage deposits work?
