Description from owner
Our self-catering cottage sleeps 2 in a simple but cosy environment. There is a large living room with dining area and a wood burning stove (wood nearby). There is a double bed on the mezzanine floor which can be used as two singles if required. Free WiFi, there is a TV with DVD/VCR in the comfortable sitting area, and the new kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, dish washer, washing machine, fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. All bedding and towels are provided and there is oil central heating and double glazing throughout. Outside there is a patio with a chimnea, dining furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue . The boiler house provides a drying room should we lapse on the weather. Dogs are welcome and love it here - they bring their owners back regularly to walk up onto the Sugar Loaf directly from the cottage.
The farm backs onto the oak woodland and open moorland of the Sugar Loaf, allowing you to walk and explore the magnificent views and countryside, leaving your car safely parked on the yard.

“Relaxing short break”
The cottage is in an idyllic location with stunning views and ideally located for a walking break. The owners, Chris and Sandra, are very friendly and make feel welcome immediately you arrive. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to come back at some time.

“Outstanding natural beauty with breathtaking views.Highly recommend to couples wanting to get away and relax.”
What a wonderful long weekend. Sandra and Chris have thought about everything, extremely well equipped cottage set in beautiful peaceful surroundings. You can literally step outside the back gate into forest that take you on walks with views over the hilltops. It is conveniently located to access shops and the town centre but far away enough to get away from it all. Everything is inclusive, no hidden charges like you find with some holiday lettings. Very cosy and comfortable with the charm you would expect from a little stone cottage.

Owner's reply: Ah Heather, what can I say. We can only apologise profusely for an unfortunate run of events. Having had to have our two much loved donkeys put down that week we probably took our eye off the ball. We ran out of heating oil – new tank and inaccurate measuring -and rang for oil immediately we found out but it was Good Friday, so no-one was available to talk to until Tuesday when they were less than helpful and we are still waiting. We spoke to you both several times, apologising and offering you the house facilities to use but you reassured us that the shower was still working, the dishwasher was available and that you could manage fine. You had also told us that you had switched the heating off early in your stay as you didn’t like it too warm and we honestly believed it wasn’t a problem for you, especially in view of the warmer weather we were having. Chris would happily have lit the fire for you each day which would have helped a little if only you had said. As I have my leg in plaster I was not able to offer any help – which was quite frustrating for me. The low rating you have given us has taken us completely by surprise – we pride ourselves on service and always try and go the extra mile to help our guests. At no time did you indicate that you were so dissatisfied despite talking to us on a daily basis. We haven’t had anyone stay with a cat before and were very pleased that that side of things seemed to go well. Please come again, when we will ensure everything will be spot on.

- How do damage deposits work?
In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Sandra (the owner) a message.
If Sandra (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
