Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Trossachs refers to to the wider area of wooded glens and braes with quiet lochs, lying to the east of Ben Lomond. The scenic charms of the area came to popularity with Sir Walter Scott's 1810 poem The Lady of the Lake, extending his romantic portrayal of Scotland's past from border ballads to poems of a medieval past rich in chivalry and symbolism. The area is now part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park established in 2002.
The principal villages of Callander and Aberfoyle lie at the heart of the Trossachs. Balloch, Tyndrum and the conservation village of Luss also lie within the National Park. Recent attractions include the Lomond Shores entertainment and reatail complex on Loch Lomond and the long-distance footpaths, the West Highland Way and the Rob Roy Way.
Lake of Menteith, situated near Aberfoyle, features the ruins of Inchmahome Priory on one of its islands, Inchmahome, where Mary, Queen of Scots was taken as a child before being taken France for her protection.

Aberfoyle

The property is located in Kinlochard, near Aberfoyle (10mins by car) where consumables: groceries, pharmacy, toiletries, logs & coal can be obtained.
Aberfoyle is just 20 minutes from Stirling, !hr from Glasgow and about an !hr 20mins from Edinburgh.
