“Vacation”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2016

Very good house, beautiful in the forest, good welcome, sorry about the opposit neighbour who warms his house ( we think ) with burning old oil of something that ruïnes the whole fresh air of the neighbourhood. Very unhailty to sleep with your window open. Mauve you are death in the morning ...

We thank you for your positive comments. With regards to the neighbour you refer to, which is a fair distance away, this is the first time we have had any comments to this effect nor have we experienced any problems in the past. The gentleman works for the Forestry Commission and we can assure you he is burning wood and not old oil! We hope this has not had too much of an effect on your holiday.

“Fabulous homely cottage in stunning surroundings”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2016

Nice friendly welcome from Pauline and Steve who live only a hundred yards or so away (available if needed but not intrusive at all). Couldn't really fault the cottage, fabulous and well equipped with all you need for your stay, nice large lounge/diner with high ceilings giving a lovely spacious feel. The garden provides a private setting with well stocked and well used bird feeders, loungers table etc and even Highland Cattle in the field at the end of the garden who might appreciate the odd carrot, what more could you ask? Amazing outlook from the back with the bathroom (large fully opening window - nice to have a wash & shave with an open view of a forest should you choose to do so as I did most mornings) and the same when doing your washing up in the kitchen. A tantalising view of Ben Lomond from the seating in the large porch or the living room at the front. Only an easy 10 minute walk into the village for your essentials (decent size co-op along with other independents), a pub and a couple of eating options available but we largely catered for ourselves in the cottage. Plenty of options for walking or cycling from the town and with a short drive, plenty of other places worth a visit within a 10 mile or so radius. Would recommend the 'Primrose Hill' walk on the shore of Loch Katrine, a relatively easy ascent which leads onto a 'terrace' with the most stunning views. Listen to 'Ave Maria' being sung by an operatic choir from a wind-up device on the Loch side (surreal!), you can't miss it on the way around. It's difficult to think of something we didn't like, the cottage and surroundings offered all that we could ask for so we're not about to try to find a negative for the sake of it.The 'comments' book in the cottage tells a similar story from many other visitors from (literally) all around the world. Along with excellent hosts we wouldn't hesitate to return and more importantly would happily recommend it to friends.

We thank you for leaving us feedback and for the extra information that will help future guests. We hope we can welcome you back again some time in the future.

“Comfortable, quiet and homely.”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2016

The cottage is in a quiet location with views over Ben Lomond and the surrounding forest. Easy access to many walks along numerous forest tracks and within walking distance to the centre of Aberfoyle. The cottage itself is spacious, warm and very comfortable. The main bedroom upstairs is extremely spacious with the added benefit of a TV. The lounge diner is well laid out with comfortable and lovely enticing gas fire. The bathroom with its electric shower and spa bath makes for a relaxing end to any strenuous days. The kitchen is well laid out with everything you need to make meals. However, a new frying pan and new knives would be useful (a knife sharpener is available). Having said that, this should not diminish from the fact that this is a lovely cottage and we would definitely book again in the future. Lovely welcome pack which was well received after a long drive up from Bedfordshire.

We thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback and for your kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We hope we may welcome you back sometime in the future.

very comfortable place, warm welcome with a lovely choc cake ! Quiet place with a nice garden overlooking peaceful cows. at a walking distance from the village where we could find everything we needed from the butcher's to the pub. Enjoyed hiking in the area: Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine, Callander... Would come again with pleasure ! Marie and Serge
