“Exceeded expectations”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2016

Rented Gorwel Cottage for two weeks, so that our teenage daughters could take part in a sailing regatta at Pwllheli Sailing Club during the Easter break. My husband and I enjoyed the Sustan Cycle routes combined with the local train and walks on the beach. The sailing club was a short car ride away or cycle, around ten to fifteen minutes. The girls had to revise for exams in May, there was plenty of room and the wi fi was good. We never eat out, as with free Waitrose delivery, the well equipped kitchen it was easy and enjoyable to stay in. The hot tub added something different for us from home. The views were spectacular, we particularly enjoyed being able to see when the sailing boats had launched or were coming home. We all loved Gorwel Cottage. Barrie and Joan were great hosts, wine and cake when we arrived and a lot of help with packing up, as I managed to leave quite a lot.

Firstly, congratulations to your daughter who won the regatta out of over 200 boats, and secondly we're happy you were pleased with the cottage - we've now left cake tins in permanently in case future guests want to bake a birthday cake!

“Beautiful Cottage, perfect location, didnt want to leave”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2016

Beautiful Cottage set in a great location for local beaches and attractions of north Wales. The cottage is stunning with amazing views of the sea and surrounding countryside, it has everything you could need plus extra's, 5 minutes walk to a beautiful beach. The hot tub is a great addition set on lovely decking with views of the sea and countryside. The owners are a wonderful couple who make you feel very welcome, and are there if needed but otherwise give you complete privacy. If you are thinking about booking this cottage, do it you will not regret it. Myself and group of friends did not want to leave, Thank you Barrie and Joan

Thanks for your excellent review and Joan & I are glad you enjoyed your stay. Love to see you back again sometime Barrie

“Wonderful cottage holiday”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2016

We expected a lot from this cottage, and I must say we were not disappointed at all. It easily accommodated 5 adults and 3 children. In spite of some poor weather, the kids were fully entertained playing hide and seek (in the house), playing with the games in the garden house and dipping in and out of the hot tub. There are plenty of castles and beaches in the area, and lots of other attractions within a short drive. The adults had a great time too - lots of places to sit quietly and the Wifi gave us access to the outside world if we needed it (and kept the kids busy too!). A very relaxing holiday even in the winter - it must be amazing in the summer. The view from the lounge window was stunning. Highly recommended for a family break.

Thanks for your excellent review, and pleased you had a good holiday - especially the new hot tub. We look forward to seeing you again. Barrie

“An appreciation of our stay at Gorwel / Llynn peninsula”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2015

This very well equipped holiday cottage is ideally situated for access to the areas' attractions, it stands nicely, affording great views of the coast. The kitchen is fully fitted out for catering at every level, the lounge is comfortable and has everything needed for relaxation and entertainment. Generally the accommodation is of a high standard and up to 8 people will be happily based for an enjoyable holiday.

Thanks for your positive review, and we hope to see you again sometime.

“Fantastic place for a family break!”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2015

The website pictures don't do Gorwel justice. This is a beautiful, perfectly equipped and comfortable house with fantastic views. Took family visiting from Australia, age range 7 to 80 and everyone loved it. Kids thought the summerhouse was great and the addition of the hot tub can only make it even better. Barrie was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Thanks for your enthusiastic review - we try to cater for all ages and tastes. We are sure the new Hot tub and sunbathing deck will be a big hit with future visitors, even in the winter and spring seasons. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

“Beautiful, well equipped cottage with stunning views”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2015

We all had a lovely stay at Gorwell. The cottage is beautiful, so well equipped - we wanted for nothing - comfortable and spacious. We were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the lovely summer house and take in the stunning views. Slight negatives - traffic noise from the busy A Rd at the bottom of the hill - only heard whilst in the garden and you do get used to it. Also, apart from a tiny shop on the caravan site, the nearest shops are in Pwllhei 2 miles away. That said, Gorwell is a fabulous base from which to explore the beautiful Lllin Peninsular and a stunning place to relax and unwind.

Glad you enjoyed the cottage and hope to see you again sometime

“Perfect family accommodation”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2014

We had the pleasure of staying in Gorwel Cottage for 5 nights. It was beautifully presented and one of the cleanest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. Barrie was fantastic to deal with and should we return to Wales, would definitely stay here again. The accommodation is perfect for families being on one level (with the exception of one small step) and the kids loved the toy box. Thank you for letting this beautiful property- highly recommended.

Thanks for the positive review and I'm pleased you had a good stay. Look forward to seeing you again sometime Barrie

“A pleasant Stay on the Llyn Peninsula”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2014

At the request of My brother in Australia I phoned the local tourist office at Pwllheli explained the dates of our intended stay and the number of the party. The office came back very quickly with some suggestions. From the information given Gorwel Cottage suited our needs. The process of payment and information on the cottage facilities was very clear. We were originally a party of five but at the last minute my niece, who lives in Spain, joined us for 2 nights.Bedrooms were fine, The cottage was quite easy to find. I used a satnav and the post code. The kitchen had every item we could need. The views from the sitting room and from the two outside patios were wonderful. We could see the south coast of the Llyn peninsula and Bardsey island. Weather was good so our two full days exploring the south and north coast was successful.Several from our party are already thinking of a return visit. Barrie Grayson met us on our arrival and was there when we left. A very charming retreat.

Thanks for your review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Just for clarity, the island you can see from the cottage is St. Tudwals, not Bardsey, as Bardsey is behind the headland. Hope to see you again. Barrie

“Lovely cottage fantastic views.”

We have been staying in or near Abersoch for many years and needed accommodation for a variety of ages. Gorwel fitted the bill extremely well. It is in a wonderful position with lovely views towards the sea. Kitchen and bathrooms very well equipped and beautifully clean. Would highly recommend.

Thanks for your review and I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again sometime Barrie

“The best we have ever stayed in.”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2014

We have been travelling around Wales for a number of years now and Gorwel is by far the best we have ever stayed in. We had a lovely welcome and the milk, bara brith and wine were a lovely touch. The house is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and better equipped than home! We had fantastic weather and it was too hot to travel far but we didn't really want to. The garden and summer house are beautiful and very well maintained. The views of the sea are lovely and the pictures on line do not do them justice. We had a fantastic holiday and were made to feel very welcome. We had such a nice time we booked for next year as soon as we got home! Thank you Barrie and Joan for a great holiday.

Thanks for your kind words and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. Will try to organise the weather again!
