Location description from owner

The North Wales region

.Nowhere else in Britain will you find such variety, in such a compact area, as you will in Snowdonia - or Eryri as it is known in Welsh.

The Snowdonia National Park is a mystical place of grandeur and beauty, with rocky mountains, singing streams, still and tranquil lakes, and great magical forests and passionate rivers. One can find the highest peak at Snowdon, and explore the beautiful villages.

One can hear the lilting Welsh language all around North Wales, one of the oldest languages of Europe, and truly this region is alive with the vibrant myths and legends of the past, which can be seen in a tangible form with the Neolithic Stone Circles, Bronze Age chambers, Celtic Iron Age fortifications and Roman forts.

Aberdaron

Bodnant is situated within easy walking distance of Aberdaron - a beautiful seaside village at the very tip of the Lleyn Peninsula. Known as “The Land’s End of Wales” it boasts a magnificent mile long sandy beach, the ancient Pilgrim Church of St Hywyn, shops and two pubs with excellent food.

The Llyn is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seals and dolphins and all manner of birdlife are plentiful. Bardsey Island, a former site of religious pilgrimage, is 2 miles off-shore and the owners can arrange a boat trip for you. The owners also hire cycles for touring the quiet lanes of this beautiful rural area.

There are numerous other activities in the area as well, including fishing, horse-riding, golf and Glasfryn Parc where you can enjoy go-karting, ten-pin bowling, archery etc. Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, a magnificent Manor with galleries, beautiful gardens and tea room with sea views is well worth a visit, whilst Ffestiniog Railway, castles and the Italian village of Portmeirion are all nearby.

The Lleyn Peninsula, where the Welsh language and way of life still flourish, is renowned for its beautiful beaches and water sport. With nearly 100 miles of stunning coastline, an array of hills of varying height inland plus the majestic mountains of Snowdonia on your doorstep, it’s also a great place to come for a walking holiday.

“Simply Wonderful”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2012

Beautiful home and a beautiful area. I had heard some of Wales was like County Donegal, so I wanted to go along and see for myself, well, I was not disappointed. Wonderful coastal walks and the most amazing scenery. The home was clean and well presented. The views from it are amazing. We enjoyed the company of the sheep in the back garden. To sum up, a simply wonderful holiday in a simply wonderful home!

Thank you for your review - The owners are very proud of Bodnant and much appreciate your kind comments. We look forward to hearing from you next time you are planning a trip to Aberdaron. Sands Holiday Homes HQ.
