Location description from owner

The Wales region

Ideally located betwen the colourful harbour town of Aberareon with its many and varied events and festivals and New Quay with its safe sandy beaches and pods of Dolphins. An ideal place to explore the coastal path network and the best Wales has to offer. Ideally located for:

Local beaches, coastal path network, fishing, yachting, kayaking, Dolphin boat trips, Red Kite sanctuary, golf, horse riding, go karts, mountain bike riding, dry ski slope, activity centre and children's play barn.

Also an ideal base to visit:

Dylan Thomas's Laugharne. A beautiful estuary town with an imposing castle and Dylan Thomas trail and Boathouse. A great place for a picnic.

Narrow Gauge railway from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge. Lovely journey through the countryside and walks down to the waterfalls. Also in Aberystwyth is the National Museum of Wales and the Funicular railway where you have a spectacular view of the bay.

Day trip to Ireland. from Fishguard to Rosslaire. Foot passengers can book a day to the Races, Wexford to shop or the Crystal Glass factories. An exciting day out.

Poppit Sands and St Dogmael Abbey Cardigan. Tuesday fresh produce markets, enjoy a coffee or a picnic in the Abbey grounds. then drive on to Poppit sands part of the National Trust, with expansive sandy beaches at the mouth of the estuary.

Aberaeron

ABERAERON The colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is close by. It's a bustling town all the year round with a long list of events and attractions. One of my favourites is the Tug of War where the two teams are separated by the harbour entrance – and someone will get wet!! Look at our calendar of events for dates of the Rugby 7′s, Fish, Cob and Mackerel festival.. There is certainly something to suit everyone.

NEW QUAY A short drive to the sandy beach of New Quay where you can take a boat trip to see the Dolphins and porpoises or to go sea fishing. The Sailing, Kayaks and Snorkeling Centre is also here.

LOCAL BEACHES The sandy coves of Llangrannog, Aberporth, Mwnt, Cei Bach, Cwmtydu, Seal Bay, Tresaith and Penbryn, Poppit sands are all to be found between here and Cardigan and all within easy reach of Merwerydd B & B.

COASTAL PATH NETWORK An ideal starting point as we are only minutes away. Enjoy stunning views and glimpses of marine life. waterfalls and idyllic picnic points. The opening of the Coastal Path Network of Wales gives walkers the opportunity to access one of Europe's most stunning coastlines. Much of the path hugs the shoreline and walkers can enjoy the sandy beaches, alongside the contrasting wild cliff tops and rambling country lanes - What a delight you have in store.

TOURING BASE We are mid-way between North and South Wales making the many mountain reaches, moorlands, rivers, beaches, waterfalls, Dylan Thomas's Laugharne, day trips from Fishguard to Ireland, and historic castles all accessible.

The area is just lovely!

“Mr.”

Lovely stay with very welcoming staff as we pulled up. I would highly recommend this to any couple looking for a little break with Abarearon just 5 minutes down the road with shops, restaurants and cafès. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would happily go back.

Thank you for your lovely review it was great to meet you. Its a lovely area, in the winter the beaches are empty and its a good break away. We hope to see you again. Best Regards

“Excellent”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2016

Me and my husband recently stayed at Oakford for the weekend. We found it a conveniently situated cottage with lovely views and Lynn was very accommodating and knowledgable of the area. The accommodation was clean and welcoming throughout and the bottle of wine on arrival a lovely touch. We had awful weather but it didn't matter as it was nice to spend time relaxing in the hot tub, which we found clean and a delight to use. It was a lovely couple of days and we would definitely consider returning.

Thank you for your great review and hopefully the weather will be better on your next visit and we look forward to seeing you both in the future. Best Regards

“Holiday in Wales”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2016

Our stay in Wales was good the owners of the holiday let were lovely and Lynn was very helpful with advice on where to go. I.e walks and directions how to get on the coastal path which we appreciated. Unfortunately the property on first inspection looked great but as the days went we noticed cobwebs on ceilings we had to wash crockery and cutlery before we could use it, and sadly the two seater sofa wasn't very comfy. We didn't complain as it just isn't us and feel bad writing this review but our hosts and the area was lovely. And the hot tub was brilliant which we used a lot.

We're very pleased you enjoyed your stay and particularly the hot tub, its a lovely area, and as you were with us quite a while you could explore the area. Best Regards
