Getting around

From the apartment, you can walk to the foot of the Royal Mile and up into the Old Town, right through the historic centre and up to the Castle. You can also walk to the city centre in around 15 minutes. If you'd rather travel by bus, there is a stop to both the Royal Mile and the city centre from immediately outside the apartment.

There is also good access by bus to the east side of the city such as Leith Waterfront and Portobello beach.

The area also benefits from one of the very rare free parking areas in the city so if you travel by car we recommend you leave it parked in the vicinity of the apartment while you explore the city by foot or by bus.

Interaction with guest

We provide a 'meet and greet' service, whereby we will meet you at the property to hand over keys, show you the layout, provide local information and answer any questions you may have. You will also be given the number of the owner and another guest contact should you have any questions or emergencies during your stay. A guest information pack will provide you with instructions on the various appliances in addition to tips and suggestions for local shops and where to visit during your stay. Your host is also a tour guide in Scotland and can provide you with information and advice on 1 day tours or longer to sights such as Roslin Chapel, Loch Lomond, whisky distilleries, Loch Ness and the Highlands.

The apartment has everything you need whilst exploring Edinburgh : walkable distance to almost everything, close to amenities.

Nice apartment, spacious for 4 but takes 5, in a good location a short bus ride from the centre of Edinburgh (drops you right outside the train station) but with amenities on the doorstep (chemist, cash point, nice coffee shops, playground for children just across the road). Location has a studenty-vibe which may not be to everyone's taste but we liked it. Buses run right past, which is very convenient but if you turn in early you may want to pack ear plugs!

Owner's reply: Thanks for reviewing our apartment. Glad you enjoyed the location which has a vibrant community feel to it. We have since installed double glazing in the bedrooms so noise from the street is no longer an issue but you still have the convenience of the bus service.

Great apartment for family of four with two young children. Excellent communication leading up to booking. We were met at the front door at the arranged time. The caretaker was friendly and welcoming. The apartment is well located. While not in the center of things, it is in a safe and vibrant neighbourhood. We often walked to key attractions in about 20-30 minutes. Many buses stop right in front of the apartment, including one of the airport routes. You can go for runs in Holyrood park which is only a ten minute jog away. The base of Calton hill is just 5 minutes away and makes for a nice evening walk. A pharmacy, grocery stores, a nice bakery, bank machines, and a wine/liquor store are just downstairs. The apartment was clean and the wifi always reliable. Good value. Only negatives: you can hear some street noise and we were not able to get the laundry working properly.

There are many local facilities and recreational opportunities such as Holyrood Park and Calton Hill with great views over the city. My wife and kids and I really enjoyed our time at the Rossie Place apartment. It was in a great neighborhood with restaurants and amenities close by and within walking distance of the Royal Mile and Holyrood Park. It was also large and comfortable. Only small drawback - saw a mouse one night!

“A great little home for the weekend”

We have a 1 year old. So we were keen to avoid hotels/B&Bs and to find somewhere that was a little more homely/comfortable on the evening, that was clean, had a bath, kitchen with cooking/microwave facilities and parking. This ticked all those boxes. The apartment was great. The cot available wasn't the greatest i.e. no real mattress, but we managed to sort this with a folded duvet. Our bed was lovely, much more luxurious than our own. The flat was clean and modern. It had a flat screen tv and freeview and also free wi-fi. The flat was on the first floor, not a major problem, there was free parking on the surrounding streets (rare in edinbugh) but it was tricky to get a space, we did however always seem to find one or get one not too far away. The location was great - sainsburys very nearby and lots of cafes/takeaways. It was about a five minute walk from the city centre. We'd definitely stay here again
