“House beautifully equipped with stunning views in a 'getaway from it all' location” House has everything anyone would need for a comfortable stay.
The advertised description of the house was very accurate, and owners very obliging and keen to ensure your stay is perfect.
Stunning views across the valley, but visitors need to be aware of the very steep, narrow road with very sharp bends before arriving at your destination.
Local area beautiful, lovely restaurants, friendly people.
Car essential, but other areas easily accessible by train from Lucca.
One of our best holidays.
Villa in medieval village of Sillico, near Lucca with private swimming pool
We have just returned after a wonderful time in this stunning villa. We are a family of four including a 21yr old daughter and 16yr old son.
After driving up the long winding road which takes about 10-15 mins once you leave Pieve Fosciana we were greeted by Yvonne who welcomed us to her beautiful property. Our first piece of advice is a car is a must! As it is needed to explore the region.
We enjoyed some nice lazy days basking in the sunshine with some of the most wonderful views we have witnessed. The weather was so nice that we were able to enjoy the pool on many occasions. The small village of Sillico has a very nice restaurant which is only yards away from the villa, and we would often spend time enjoying lengthy lunches and sipping the local wine. The staff and owners are so nice at the restaurant and even though their English and my Italian wasn't the best we still laughed and enjoyed the welcome they always gave. The pizza oven is fantastic, Yvonne sent us all the instructions to work the outdoor oven.
Their is a small shop which is part inside the restaurant, plus a Coop in Pieve Fosciana. You do pass a larger super market when driving from the airport and if you plan to spend time in the villa cooking with the family it might be worth stopping off as you drive by.
We drove over the Tuscan hills to Forte Dei Marmi to spend time at Versilla beach, which is described as the Cannes of Italy. If considering to do the same you will need to book into one of the beach clubs as there isn't any public areas. We managed to find one of the cheaper clubs and had a cabana for €50 for the day.
We also visited Pisa and drove into the city. Car parking is easy and there is quite a few car parks near the tower and cathedral. You will need to book if you would like to climb the tower steps as time slots are given out. We also visited the zip line and climbing at Selva del Buffardello in San Romano which is great fun. The restaurant in Pieve Fosciana, Il Pozzo is worth a visit!
Overall this property and area is simply stunning and would recommend it to everyone. …
Peaceful haven in beautiful setting in a delightful Italian village
We stayed at Pieve Apartments for one week as a family of five and had a wonderful and relaxing holiday there. The apartment itself is very clean, spacious, comfortably furnished and comes with a sun terrace and a shared pool. There is an outdoor eating place and a grill. The pool was such a blessing as the weather was unusually hot and it was so refreshing and fun for us all to just jump in and cool off.
There is lots to do and explore nearby and going into Lucca, which is about an hour's drive from the village, is truly a treat. Lucca has a wealth of beautiful old buildings, churches, lovely coffee shops, restaurants and ice cream palars as well as stylish shops and boutiques. We even managed to listen to a wonderful concert of classical music there one night in an amazing church.
The owner, Flaviano and his family, are delightful and genuine people who are extremely helpful with anything you may need. We were offered to help ourselves to their delicious home grown veg from the garden and also were given a bottle of Prosecco and wine on our arrival. The atmosphere at this small complex is very friendly, warm and great for families. We would definitely go back there.
Thank you Flaviano and family for making us feel so welcome and for a lovely stay. …
A lovely oasis in the Garfagnana
Flaviano and family couldn't do enough for us. They made our stay incredibly easy, with suggestions of where to go and a running guide to all the festivals going on in the area. The Mansarda is a lovely apartment; very cool, and the terrace is wonderful. We had plenty of space, and two bathrooms was a bonus. The pool and grounds are wonderfully kept and it is so very quiet. Just the usual bells and the odd farmyard sound! All shops and a lovely restaurant are a few minutes' walk away.
One evening, Flaviano invites you to make pasta and then his friend Marcello cooks you a fabulous meal with it. A great experience! The kids and we loved it: we will be back. …
We arrived to be met by the caretaker who showed us the house and facilities and made us feel very welcome. The house is very comfortable, well equipped and cool in the heat of the day. The two covered terraces were where we spent most of the time and are wonderful living spaces. The gardens and pool were great for relaxing in. The walk to town was fun for us all through the woods and over the river. There were 2 medium supermarkets within walking distance which stocked all the essentials and some luxuries. We took the train down to Lucca and to Pisa for day trips well worth a visit. We travelled with our own bikes so had various trips out into the most amazing countryside with wonderful views of the mountains and lovely cool dips in the rivers. All in all a fantastic holiday in a wonderful location staying in one of the nicest rental properties we have visited. We would definitely book this property again. For info we managed the tight turn onto driveway in a chevrolet orlando with bikes on the back no problems. …
