“First visit ever to Cruden Bay Aberdeenshire!” We were greeted on our arrival by a really, helpful, charming, friendly man who gave us a conducted tour of the property and explained the workings of the electric goods etc. He also pointed us in the direction of the local shops etc. which was very helpful. The cottage itself was very nice and was equipped with all the necessary kitchen facilities you would need. Everything was spotlessly clean including the bedding which was very important to me! Everything was comfortable and pleasant - a home from home really. I would highly recommend the cottage to future guests. We did a lot of exploring and found lovely beaches and walks. Ideal for the local Golf Clubs also. All in all, a delightful cottage!
The cottage was well maintained and clean. There was everything we needed for our short stay and it was close to the shops for provisions but very countrified. …
Slains Cottage in Cruden Bay
Cosey wee home from home
Lovely cosey cottage, very comfy beds. Has all you need for your self catering stay with the exception of bowls...think there was 1 bowl that we shared for cereal. We brought the travel cot also...if one was available in the cottage that would have been good, as less to carry with us. Not too problematic though. Theres no wifi which would have been handy but you can live without it for a few days. Keyholder (Liz) was very friendly and very helpful. Locals friendly too. Cruden Bay beach, walking distance away - stunning golden stretch of sand/very clean...probably one of the best beaches I've seen here and abroad.
Is definitely worth a visit in the summer months as it was pretty cold when we were there. Great wee playpark for kids just 5 mins drive from the cottage...big zip wire, climbing frame, chute and picnic area etc. Ellon town nearby is a bit busier than Cruden Bay, with more shops restaurants etc and handy for the new swimming pool which we attended with our 2 yr old son. Pool was pleasantly warmer than council pools back home and the changing areas heated. If we were there a bit longer i.e. a week we would have explored the surrounding areas a bit more. The chinese takeaway in Ellon was not to our liking at all but the local one 2 mins from the cottage may be worth a try. No downside at all really but we kept saying that wee fire pit or chimnea would have been lovely for the back garden to enable us to sit outside at night as it was too cold to put the table and chairs out. All in all a great stay!! We'd go back...when its warmer …
