The recently refurbished Norwich Theatre Royal is the largest in Norwich. While the outside has a new modern look, the inside remains a traditional art-deco classical theatre. The theatre puts on a wide variety of shows, from dance performances, musicals and pantomimes to classic plays. Family performances in which young children are encouraged to attend are also quite frequent.
If you cant attend a performance or would enjoy a deeper look at the world of theatre, take one of their four guided tours: a technical one that offers a backstage perspective upon the technical aspects of a theatre production; a general tour provides information on the history and culture of theatre; a historical tour presents the theatres heritage; and theres also a Touch Tour for the blind and partially sighted. Each tour lasts about an hour and the groups range from ten to twenty-five people.
While youre in Norwich, be sure to visit other noteworthy destinations such as Norwich Cathedral or the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
