“The Crow’s Nest.” Really enjoyed our stay at the Crow’s Nest. Lovely apartment. Clean and inviting. We had a warm welcome from the host.. who was very attentive and helpful. Lovely views. Loved the Peacocks! Parking right outside and lots of area for the dog to run around. Bit of a smell from the Sewerage works .. but you soon get used to it. The Cinder path into Whitby and the other way to Robin Hoods Bay was a few metres away. A Picturesque way of getting into Town. Lots of Chiffchaffs en route.. Take your binoculars!

“Fantastic property and great hosts” We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Shippen and had a wonderful relaxing stay. The conversion has been done to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need, underfloor heating is complemented with a wood burner and kindling and logs supplied. We were very impressed with the welcome hamper and found the super king sized bed so comfortable. Karen and Jeff were very welcoming nothing is too much trouble for them, we will definitely be recommending The Shippen to our friends and family.

“Wonderful Hidden Gem” We've stayed in many U.K caravans & without doubt this was Simply the Best. Set privately in the Yorkshire Dales countryside with animals grazing opposite & a beautiful cottage garden to admire the scenery from. The caravan was clean, comfortable, well equipped & with good quality beds & bedding. It has been an absolute pleasure to stay here & it's no surprise that guests return each year. I now include ourselves in that statement!! We & our 2 dogs have loved it. Thank You Margaret.

“Rural idyll” We spent a long weekend in September in the Byre and simply can’t fault it. The location is perfect, just to the west of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and ten minutes north of Thirsk and within easy reach of Whitby, Scarborough, Knaresborough and York to name but a few. The cottage itself is a superb barn conversion very tastefully done to a very high standard with good quality fixtures and fittings and clearly installed by skilled tradesmen. It truly felt like a home from home, but in a tranquil rural setting. We’re very glad we found this and have already booked one of the other, larger, cottages for a return visit with our son, daughter in law and grandson. We will definitely be back again ourselves for a longer stay. Without a doubt the best rental property we’ve found in this country.

“Incredible property with stunning views in a tranquil rural setting” My wife & I stayed at The Mistal for five nights. This is 5 star accommodation on a 12 acre farm in a beautiful rural setting and even has a lake with over 6000 fish! Very comfortable beds, private secure parking 5 feet from the entrance to the cottage and two sets of outside tables and chairs to catch the sun where you can just relax. Tennis court also just outside before the stables. Ideally located just outside the village of Knayton which is approx a 10 min drive from the charming market town of Thirsk (Tesco open until midnight, we would recommend the Thai (Racha) and Indian (Henna) restaurants if you like spicy food) and 30 mins from York. Ideal location to tour the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and surrounding areas. This is one of four cottages (Jeff is still working on the last two) that has all the mods cons from underfloor heating to soft closing drawers in the kitchen and the latest bathroom fixtures. The attention to detail really shows and we had a very nice welcome pack on arrival. This coupled with the help, advice and friendliness from Karen & Jeff (and Tangles the friendly resident dog!) who go out of their way to make sure your stay is a comfortable and memorable one. Jeff gave us a tour of his retirement project which is daunting for most people as he is a perfectionist. We did a similar project, albeit smaller, in Mexico where we now live so know the challenges they must have faced. What we wished that could have been better: Absolutely nothing. Our regret: Not having booked a longer stay at this beautiful property. Our advice: Book this property, you will not regret your decision. Thank you Karen & Jeff for sharing your beautiful property with us and the conversation & laughs we shared on our last night at The Carpenters Arms! We hope to be back some day when we are in this part of the world to see your Alpacas!

“Fabulous apartment in a great location.” Spent a fantastic weekend in this fabulous apartment with our 18 month old son. Booked very last minute and Carloline was extremely helpful and sent through all the information re our booking very promptly. Travel cot and high chair were provided which made our stay much easier. The apartment is immaculate and very spacious. The photos really do not do it any justice, it far outweighed our expectations. The view from the windows are stunning and the location is perfect. We are frequent visitors to Whitby and have always stayed in B&B accommodation before now but staying in an apartment was so much easier with a toddler in tow. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and the added extras such as the board games (we loved playing guess who) and the toy box were thoughtful touches. We are already planning our next visit and can't wait to go back.

“Lovely New Year break” My wife and I stayed here from 29/12/17 till 01/01/18 . It was our first time stopping in the area and the Dalesview apartment gave us our perfect base. The apartment had everything that you need to give you the perfect home from home feel . There was the added extra of having snow on the ground when we arrived which made the views breathtaking . There is so much to visit all within an half hours drive that we will have to return as we didn't have time for everything . I would just like to thank Ken again for our wonderful stay.

“Tickled pink with our stay at Tickle Cottage!” Had a great weekend at Tickle cottage, close to all amenities of Filey which we enjoyed. The cottage suited us perfectly with everything you could want and more. Really comfortable and lovely decor with all mod cons. Loved that everything was close to hand, vast beach only a stroll away, cafe, pub and leisure facilities on site including a pool, had no need to venture far. Great garden/patio area with BBQ, which we took advantage of, perfect for lazy afternoons! A fab weekend and would love to return!

“Amazing cottage in a beautiful village” We adored this cottage. It is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. It has a terrific location right by the sea front. Everything was spotlessly clean and our hosts made everything very easy for us. Staithes is a beautiful village, even in damp february. What really made the experience for us though was staying in this lovely house. It fully deserves all of the amazing reviews!!

“Beautiful House, great location” What a wonderful house and the owner Bridget made sure we needed everything for our stay as well as leaving us some treats which was unexpected, the children especially loved the Easter chocolates! House was beautiful and could not fault anything inside it. Only one downside was parking, struggled to find parking in the day nearby but was able to park after tea time, would highly recommend this house.

“A great find” An excellent house within easy walking distance of York city centre. Minster House is perfect for a large group get-together. The house was spacious, very clean and well-equipped. The owners were very kind, providing a lovely welcome pack and also very helpful, recommending some of their favourite local restaurants, take-aways etc. All of our group loved the property and I am sure we will return in the future.

“Fantastic holiday accommodation.” The house is in a lovely location, perfect for a quiet stay and for sightseeing. We had a lovely weekend break. The holiday accommodation is very comfortable but also very well equipped with everything you may need during your stay from BBQ tools to enough pots and pans to make sunday lunch for 9 people. I have hired many holiday homes but this has got to have been one of the best and excellent value for money. The owner was very organized, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you.

“Absolutely Fabulous” Spent Monday to Friday at Minster Bells with 8 friends and could quite happily have stayed longer. The house is situated on a street with shops, bars, cafes all around. It is in a fantastic location to access the centre with all the shops, bars and places of interest close by. We walked to the rail station to pick up a shuttle bus to the races, but were quite warm when we arrived as it is a 15 minute walk in heels, so maybe a taxi to the races would have been better. But other than that we strolled everywhere. The house has a lovely atmosphere, it is light, airy and very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and we spent lots of time sitting around the huge table in the kitchen, eating, drinking, chatting and laughing. The bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of storage space and lots of mirrors and place to plug in the hairdryer, which was great for all the girls! Janet Jacobi was so helpful. I emailed her many times before our visit for information and she was always so kind, nothing was too much trouble. She also put up balloons and banners for a birthday celebration. I would certainly recommend staying at Minster Bells and should we return to York in the future, I will be ringing Janet.

“An idyllic hideaway - an oasis of calm” Daleside Holiday Lodge is located within a quiet valley in the National Park, close to the small village of Westerdale but ideally situated to ensure you can max out on the various attractions and places to visit in both coast and country. We really enjoyed the peaceful oasis of the cottage and made great use of the location through visits to Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and of course Staithes. Don't miss the joys of a steam train ride on the NY Moors Railway and the Danby Moors Visitor Centre as well as local walks aplenty. The cottage is great, being very tastefully decorated and having all the usual facilities. The views from the bedrooms in particular over the valley are beautiful and we wouldn't hesitate booking again to visit this beautiful part of the world.

“Baxter house ,Filey - “ home from home “” My elderly mum , brother , my 17 year son and I have just spent our first week ( probably first of many ) at Baxter house We needed somewhere with 4 bedrooms because of the unusual make up of our party and this fitted the bill perfectly Very economical and had everything we needed from free Wi-Fi , Tv , well equipped Kitchen ( even a ice cube maker and chilled water ! ) to 4 bedrooms and 2 toilets , a shower and a bath . Our own parking space at rear - a little challenging for my large car to get in and out but nothing a little practicing didn’t stop me . Although the weather wasn’t in our favour this visit there is a nice garden with BBQ and outdoor seating Just across the road is Tesco’s and the bus stop with regular buses to Scarbrough or further afield Train station is also just a few steps away if needed A short walk takes you into Filey for the shops or a little further to the beaches . As my mum put it Baxter’s is very homely and like “home from Home “ and definitely value for money . Paul Knight
