“Wonderful 'back to nature' experience” We chose to go for an Easter break as five related adults to the north of Scotland, and found this site looking to be the best suitable for our needs: a wild area with access to the scenic beautiful roughness of Scotland, yet not far from facilities for shopping and eating out. Our hosts, Therese and Peter, were helpful and welcoming from the very first contact, and continued to be so during our whole time there: always available if need be, and with time to chat and offer advice and recommendations. Their extended family, including two wonderful dogs, a large number of chickens (they wouldn't keep still so no-one could count them), and a splendid working farm with cows, sheep and lambs, were an added bonus. The whole site, an old quarry with plenty of walks in various directions through the gorse, meadows, copses and a small loch, with it's occasional heron and osprey (but mind out for the electric fence). There are also a number of birds and other wildlife who regularly appeared (in fact we got to tell the time by some of them) at the feeders on 'our' balcony: several small birds like Siskin, Chaffinch, Great Tit, Coal Tit were ever present, but we also had close-up views there of the Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Red Squirrel (who had learnt to open the box to grab the peanuts inside). Despite several superb trips out we were always pleased to get back to the warmth of our lodge. Facilities are very good, although the showers may seem a little weak for those used to the powered variety. All rooms are clean and tidy and everything else is thoughtfully provided, plenty of blankets, including electric ones if needed, and we had a lovely surprise on arrival of a welcome card and some eggs (including chocolate ones as it was Easter !). Wish we lived closer than the 500 or so miles away we do, we would certainly go more often - whatever, we are looking forward to our next trip to link up again with 'our new friends in the North'. (I'm only sorry I can only put one tick on the 'Recommend' button below.)
“Just as described & nice and clean” Just as described clean and right on the beach with no road to cross. Fun water park for 4 - 10 year olds. Great fish & chip shop 50m away and 20m to good quality restaurant. The cafe by the water park has the best chips ever. Our little spaniel enjoyed the long walks in Culbin forest which again can be accessed right across the road and passed the caravan park. The enclosed patio was ideal and gets the evening sun. Neighboring properties vary in upkeep but all friendly enough if you keep a respectful noise level. They live there full time.
