“Relax in comfort!” Just had two enjoyable weeks of family holiday staying in Tranquility Farmhouse in Nadur, a splendidly spacious and well-appointed house accommodating up to 8 in comfort. It was built quite recently by Peter and Toni-Ann Muscat who live across the road with their family, and who manage the property themselves. They were very easy to communicate with in advance, and already made extra helpful provisions for us prior to arrival, when we received their very warm and good-humoured welcome to Gozo. Also they responded promptly to our suggestions for some extra pieces of kitchen and domestic gear. Most usefully, they fixed transport in both directions from/to the Valetta airport, including the ferry crossing to Gozo, and considering the inevitable pressure of traffic into Valetta, it was well worth having someone else doing the navigating. In addition, they contacted a car hire company in Nadur, who gave a good rate, and it all worked very smoothly. Although Gozo is quite small, and has good bus services between the towns, which all have essential shopping readily available usually within walking distance, the car was really useful to get to the out of the way places that have the real Gozitan character. This being mid-May we coincided with the 'Notte Gozitana' Festival in Victoria, with a weekend of all sorts of music, art, tasty stalls, and characteristically general friendliness, much of the activity being based around the famous Citadel. Don't miss its archaeological Museum - unique cultures thrived on Gozo for millennia before Stonehenge.And we often had the sea shore or magnificent cliff walks virtually to ourselves.It's easy to take an evening out for a meal, eg several good restaurants in the main square of nearby Zaghra (pronounced Sharah), close to the great historic temple site of Ggantija. Diving is big business here, and the boat trip around Comino is a real highlight. Great fun exploring Gozo, and great support from Peter and Toni-Ann.
