“Home from home but with a much better view!” We have just returned from a great week in this lovely apartment. It is every bit as well appointed and well cared for as the photos suggest and the views are even better. There's a 10 minute drive up the mountain to reach the resort which obviously means there's no strolling to the beach but it is well worth it - as I say, the views are breathtaking and, thanks to some variable October weather, were ever changing. From the apartment's large terrace you can see nearby mountains running down to the sea and, on a clear day, the Sierra Nevada in the distance. From the drive up on a clear day you can see Gibraltar and Africa in the same panorama. We were all comfortable in the apartment which is spacious and has everything you need to make the most of the holiday. The description is very accurate and so I won't elaborate much further suffice to say there was nothing to disappoint. We did report a minor issue with the shutters and had a prompt response and if we were really trying to find something that could be improved the sofas could be a little more comfortable but this is literally it - it really is a beautiful apartment and one that we will definitely be back to given that feels very luxurious but is priced very competitively. As for the resort, El Soto is beautifully maintained, and the staff at the clubhouse are all friendly and helpful, particularly Andy, the PT instructor who was a font of knowledge about the local area, and really helped us make the most of the trip with recommendations (Carvajal beach, Maro beach & Istan village were particular highlights), as well as being very helpful in getting me to make the most of the time in the gym (which is surprisingly well equipped for this type of resort). The clubhouse restaurant offers a well priced set menu at lunch times and some evening food offers. We ate there for the steak night which offers 2-4-1 but the steak was lacking in flavour. However, we also ate there for two lunches which were both well cooked and flavourful. The resort is large but doesn't feel too big as it is well designed and landscaped. Fortunately we had a few hot days and so were able to enjoy the pools which are as well maintained as the rest of the resort. Brian and Lynn were very quick to respond with any queries and have gone to great lengths to make sure all information that is needed is available in good time. As a location we felt Elivira offered an excellent balance between a picturesque setting and easy access to beaches, shops and plenty of places for days out in nearby Malaga, Gibraltar and many other places that we will be looking to explore next time we go. All in all the only thing that would make us reluctant to recommend this place is that we don't want it to be booked up the next time we want to go ;-)
