Stoury Bothy in Banton Kilsyth
Cosy with fantastic views
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend in April and loved it. The owners, Heather and Dov Henderson, couldn't be more friendly or welcoming. The bothy itself is attached to the farmhouse but you hear little if any noise from the main house. The living room/dining/kitchen area has everything you could need and there was nothing better than curling up on the couch under a blanket at night to watch television. A helpful welcome pack greets you with bread, cheese, butter, tea, biscuits and newspapers and there is the option to have freshly laid eggs from the farm for breakfast. The two bedrooms are both a good size with the second bedroom able to sleep four. The silence at night was fantastic! The bathroom is big with an excellent power shower. The views from the french doors down over the hills are truly spectacular and there are plenty of farm animals around to amuse younger children.
It would be helpful to have a car as the village of Banton has few amenities, but take your time coming up the farm road. The bothy is handily situated only a few miles from the motorway which provides easy access to Glasgow, Stirling and beyond with plenty to see and do, regardless of the weather.
The bothy is attached to a working farm and therefore the owners are around should you need any help but are certainly not intrusive in any way, I would highly recommend Stoury Bothy and can't wait to stay again! …
Loch End Cottage
Perfect wedding venue and it exceeded expectations!
We were looking to rent a house, near Glasgow, with a large garden so we could have a garden BBQ wedding for about 45 people. We found it! Loch End Cottage is beautiful and in beautiful surroundings. The owner, Mark, was very helpful and we can't thank him enough for letting us have our wedding here. Everyone commented on what a great idea it was to rent a house because then you have no limitations and it meant our friends were able to stay over without booking hotels.
The house is a lot more spacious than we expected, the kitchen is HUGE! The bedrooms were lovely and had every amenity you could need. It was so so good, we were really pleased we went with Loch End Cottage. …
Wester Auchinrivoch Farm, near Stirling
Perfect base for exploring central Scotland, Glasgow, the Trossachs, Stirling and Edinburgh.
Everything about this rental was excellent, from the initial (and subsequent) contact with the owners, Walter and Agnes, the very accurate directions for travel to the property through to the facilities and amenities provided. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, very relaxing and peaceful. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Everything needed for a great stay was present in the property and more besides, with the owners very kindly providing basic provisions like milk, tea, coffee eggs and fruit. The under-floor heating meant that the property was comfortably warm when waking up or returning after a day exploring. The conservatory was great for relaxing with a coffee. The property's location meant it was perfect for exploring the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, with all of them less than an hour away. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are also within easy reach - the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is a perfect place to see red squirrels. For those with an interest in castles, there are plenty within easy travelling distance; Doune, Blackness and Castle Campbell to name just a few. The Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies are just a short drive away. This property provides a pleasant, clean, comfortable base for people wanting to explore this area of Scotland. Probably one of the nicest rental properties we have stayed in. Highly recommended. …
