Italy apartment or villa with a private pool area | Holiday Lettings
“Relaxing and beautiful” I would recommend the Villa Fontanine as it was well appointed and the owners thought of everything. The views were spectacular and the mornings were delightful out by the pool. I even chanced upon seeing a baby deer down in the field. We hired a chef one night and had a relaxing dinner. The train was easy into town. And for those that were concerned there was no American coffee maker there is! Although after drinking espresso I think I agree with the comment that we drink brown water! I am contemplating booking again!
“Stunning villa in friendly village with beautiful views” We had a superb week in Villa Mara at the very beginning of April. The villa overlooks the sea. Its views are stunning and it is set in the rocky hillside overlooking the sea. It is on 2 different levels (the top level having 2 storeys) and then beneath the level with the pool (the bottom level) the garden continues down the hill in fairly steep terraces.
We travelled with 2 children (nearly 3 and nearly 5) who are sure footed with a good ratio of adult per child (3 adults) and the garden and villa really captivated the children's and our imagination - they loved playing in it but perhaps if you had a crawler or younger child it would be less relaxing (although each level outdoors was gated so this wouldn't necessarily be a problem). For us, it was absolutely perfect. The children enjoyed picking lemons from the lemon tree whenever we needed one for drinks etc! They loved the pool and the decking next to it made it a safe area to play around. They enjoyed playing up and down the steps and making dens in different places. There were all sorts of interesting plants and many different things to look at.
We were met and helped out by Giuseppe, who was very kind and welcoming and answered all our questions. The children adored him and were very excited whenever they saw him and we also liked him a lot. The views were beautiful and everything was clean. The beds were comfortable. San Ambrogio is a friendly village with a pizzeria and very close to the much busier but also lovely town of Cefalu. The time of year we travelled to Sicily was lovely - lots of flowers in blossom and enough of a buzz around Cefalu to make it fun but not so heaving with people that we couldn't park etc. We found it warm during the day (T-shirts and shorts, fine for playing on the beach and in the sea) but needed jumpers in the evening. The pool wasn't warm because of the time of year but we used it a few times for short periods of time and it was good fun and, like everything else, beautifully maintained and clean.
I would recommend this property rental very highly.
“Best holiday ever!” Several reasons why this was literally the best holiday ever.
* The most fantastic friendly service from the owners Di and Leigh who couldn't do enough for us
* The most stunning location - the sort that every time you look up from your book by the pool you need to pinch yourself
* A house full of character and charm
* A fully stocked wine cellar of hand picked wines by Leigh who REALLY knows his wines
* The option to have the lovely next door neighbour pop round and cook you a fantastic traditional italian meal
* A truly breathtakingly beautiful hilltop village down the road (Anghiari).
* And I got proposed to by the pool over looking some of the most beautiful views I have seen. Now you can't beat that!
Lovely couple and lovely place.
“A small paradise at the end of a dirt track!!!” We had a magnificient time at Trullo Tranquillo.
It was a very quiet location, with a great view, a beautiful countryside all around but very close to a lot of touristic places and the sea.
The owner very generously let us pick the fruits that grow in the garden and so we took advantage of his offer and had the juiciest little pears, figs, barbary figs and lots of almonds.
My 6 year old developped a habbit of watching the stars from the roof terrasse at night.
The trullo was impeccably clean and a very welcoming environment.
I would go back tomorrow if I could!!!!
“Wonderful Tuscan experience, perfect villa!” This beautiful villa served as a home base for our family travels throughout Tuscany for a week and I must say that it has been perfect! The pool was wonderful for the children as were the villa’s bedrooms and overall amenities. Most appreciated were the views from the outdoor pergola and from the covered veranda… we spent hours and hours just looking at the lake and enjoying the magnificent sunsets! The grounds offered a truly relaxing atmosphere as well as fun activities such as playing in the pool all day and making our own pizza in the pizza oven in the evenings! What is better than eating a pizza prepared by your own kids?
We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the wonderful town of Cortona, the Trasimeno lake as well as the most fabulous places in Tuscany! We will be back!!
“the drive is well worth it” La Casina is about 15 mins from the small hill town of Poppi in Arezzo Province, the Tapanessi family were wonderful hosts ,you need some guidance from Poppi to locate the villa which was provided by Nicolo ,but once you arrive, the villa's facilities and location are exceptional as described. Our numbers varied over the 7 days from 8-9 persons, the villa was perfect for the size of our group, the family provided us with wine cheeses and antipasto for our arrival. We tended to eat in for either lunch or dinner each day,you just don't wish to leave such a beautiful setting.
Poppi ( the village ) is a beautiful hill town, wonderful restaurants across from the Castello, shopping for food/wine supplies was convenient with a COOP and Penny's in the nearby town, but I would recommend at least a day trip to the regional town of Arezzo, the old historical section of Arezzo is something to see and experience. The movie " Life is Beautiful "was filmed in the old section ,take the little train service from Pont a Poppi it takes about an hour to Arezzo,it was one of the highlights of the trip .
Gigi Tapannesi was at the villa most mornings tending the pool and any needs of the guests ( without intruding ),he is a charming man as are his family. On the Thursday before our departure Nicolo brought out to the villa some fresh tagliatelle which his father had made that afternoon ,more than enough to feed 8 persons.Overall it was a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of eastern Tuscany.
“Idyllic spot, well equipped villa, gorgeous terraces and garden, private coves 5mins walk - what more could you want?” We loved this villa. Three good friends, we got a bedroom each and room to spare. The Villa is really well equipped (though do stop off on the way there to get self-catering essentials like loo roll, soap, water, wine etc!) . Hosts really helpful before and after by e-mail.
Spent most evenings on the roof terrace with its stunning views. The coast 5 mins walk from the garden is a line of little coves and beaches, so out of high season you get one all to yourself - first thing we did was strip off and jump in!!! Water clear as glass.
This is def the place if you want some peace and quiet rather than parties out every night.
Garden full of bouganvillia and hibiscus, acacia, lemon tree, birds singing etc. The nearest place to go is the 5 star hotel down the road, lovely for a posh Aperol Spritzer in the evenings. And you can hire kayaks quite cheaply from their beach. But no shops unless you drive, so car essential. Some great little restaurants 10 mins down the road in Porto Pozzo though.
Loved Santa Teresa, and Palau was fun (but awful for driving/parking - watch out for bad road signage re one-way streets and parking zones - oops!!). Driving can be a bit hairy cos of the Italians love of playing chicken on blind bends, but as long as you're careful and don't let yourself be bullied, it was fine, and there is stunning scenery all around. Also recommend outings to Porto Raphael, Porto Pollo (lots of different kinds of beaches), and the utterly fabulous Agroturismo Saltara (book first) for a very posh, delicious and enormous lunch or dinner for around 35 euros incl wine - we got a swim in their lovely pool too!
