Get away from it all and enjoy the luscious scenery of a secluded countryside setting by booking one of these fabulous cosy holiday cottages. Choose from country cottages in England, tranquil gites in France and cottages in Wales with log fires and breathtaking views.
You may prefer to visit the splendid country of Ireland and stay in a traditional Irish cottage - enjoying long leisurely walks before soaking up the Celtic atmosphere in great local pubs. Alternatively, choose a Scottish lodge by a loch or in the mountains and relax as you marvel at the beauty of the great outdoors.
For the more adventurous, look further afield and enjoy the serenity of a country cottage in a hidden overseas location. Pick somewhere in a peaceful forest or mountain setting and enjoy long walks or energetic bike rides.

So pleased you had a wonderful stay all together. The Lodge has hosted so many family celebrations and its a joy to see so many people get together for such special memorable occasions. So many guests comment on the fact that its fabulous to be all together but yet to have the space to all do your own thing - whether its out of doors jogging around the meadows, walking the Nature trail admiring the wildlife, fishing on the River Frome, playing tennis, sunbathing on the terrace, making a barbeque, paddling in the stream, playing with Otter (the family dog) or relaxing in the Lodge taking a well earned soak in one of the luxurious bathrooms, watching a film on one of the many tv's or just snoozing by the woodburner - we try to ensure that there is something for everyone.

Rose Cottage is a family owned holiday home which we use and love and hope all guests love as well. Judging by the visitors book in the cottage (and the other report on TripAdvisor), we have so far achieved our ambition as every guest comment is positive and expresses how much they enjoyed their holiday (including the entry from this particular party).
With any property, unforeseen issues do arise and we do our best to sort these as soon as possible as we did with the blocked pipe referred to in this report. This is a remote area of Scotland (part of the attraction) yet on a Sunday, our plumber was on site within hours and sorted the problem. Similarly when the second incident was reported, again on a Sunday, he called in on his way home from visiting a sick relative in Dumfries hospital. He reported to me that the second incident was nothing to do with the pipework but was a blockage in the u bend of the toilet itself and was a result of misuse. I have no reason to doubt his word. We only once had a problem with a pipe blockage before this party arrived(hence our notice in the cottage regarding what can and cannot be flushed). Since this party departed, we have had many more lettings without a problem. We have never had occasion to charge a guest for clearing a blockage. I will leave readers to draw their own conclusions.
The single bedroom is approx 9ft by 6ft and of sufficient size to accommodate a full size single bed and other furniture. Whether this is small is dependant of what one is used to. We do not understand the privacy issue.
The party's comments reported here vary considerably from the positive report they left in the cottage's visitor book. I am inclined to suggest that this is for two reasons. First, this party was found to have had additional unregistered guests staying in the cottage. We never found out how many but they did admit to one extra adult, not child as stated. We never related this to the blocked pipe. Second, it was also discovered that this party had entered private cupboards and used bed linen our family keeps at the cottage for our use when there. We had to pay to have the linen laundered (some property owners would have deducted this from the security deposit). These issues clearly caused considerable embarrassment to this party when they were mentioned to them.
Despite all this and because of our wish for everybody to have fond memories of their stay at Rose Cottage, I voluntarily gave this party a £75 rental refund together with full refund of their security deposit.
I am sure the many wonderful comments in our visitors book provide every reassurance that guests will enjoy their holiday at Rose Cottage and even return again as many do.
