“Beachfront paradise” Our family of 5 have just returned from The Beach House. On arriving and seeing the ocean at our door step, the comment i heard was " I already want to return here".After a busy year The Beach House was a perfect retreat for us, every afternoon was spent on the front veranda sipping a drink and watching the most amazing sunsets. The house is very comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for the staff Mahinda and Chandana. The bonus for our family was that the surf was pumping and only a short walk along the beach. Would highly recommend The Beach House.

“Last minute booking to perfection!!” We had a great time! The beach house was clean and comfortable, the fresh seafood over the open firepit was perfect, calming ocean waves throughout the night, and great service onsite!! The beach is pretty much all to yourself. If you want excitement, you are just a 20 - 30 min walk along the beach or adjacent rode into town or take a quick 5 min tuk tuk ride and your there. Overall, I'm going back!!

“paradise” The retreat at blue lagoon has all the comforts of home but is set in the most beautiful location, on a lake, in the sun, surrounded by jungle. It is luxurious without being over the top. The house is stunning and love the open plan, bring the outside in feel it has. The house and grounds are maintained to an excellent standard by the housekeepers Prem and Sunita. They are very attentive but so discreet we hardly noticed they were there. Sunita is a fabulous cook, some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka was made by her. We shopped for ingredients in the local markets and villages (an experience I would highly reccommend) and she did the rest...delicious. The retreat is a perfect base for exploring more of Sri Lanka. Its central location teamed with the great service of the Hikkasurf 'family' meant we could arrange day trips by tuktuk to spas (the amba spa in Balybitya is bliss) / beaches / turte hatcheries etc and longer trips by minibus- e.g. we went to pinnawalla elephant sanctuary and kandy city over two days very easily. The guys arrange everything at great value cost. Hikkaduwwa town is vibrant and lively, every restaurant serves beautiful fresh food and drink...well cocktails!Where else in the world can you have a pina colada made of fresh pineapple and coconut straight from a tree? The villa was definately the best way to relax, being by the pool surrounded by beautiful green jungle soaking up the sun and enjoying the weird and wonderful sights and sounds! All in all this a perfect place to holiday, relaxing and exploring. Sri Lanka is a beutiful country with a beautiful culture! Perfect!

“Rainforest paradise with village atmosphere near beach, transport and historic Galle Fort.” The well furnished and comfortable villa consists of three bedrooms with en- suites and a spacious open living/dining area. The master bedroom has a spacious Bali-style indoor-outdoor bathroom. The single story building is situated on a large and well maintained rain forest property with some traditional features. The outdoor eating area has views over the sparkling clean infinity pool, a water feature and adjoining paddy fields. The atmosphere is peaceful, and visiting water monitors, occasional monkeys as well as a rich bird life, made for a peaceful, relaxing holiday before our more strenuous travels through this beautiful and most varied country. Our accommodation came with a choice of European or Sri Lankan cooked breakfasts, and a good selection of tropical fruit was provided. Other meals were available on request. The villa is well equipped with family games, books about Sri Lanka and videos. Hikkaduwa has shops, bars, restaurants and a lovely beach, all in 10 to 15 minutes' walking distance from the villa. Public transport, i.e. trains and buses, are easily accessible and took us to Galle Fort and Colombo. Staff were welcoming and responsive to any of our requests.

“Get pampered in Hikkaduwa” Allthough you can book the three seperate rooms via agoda, Villa Gallindawatta is definetely not an hotel. It's much better. We rented the whole villa for a week in July 2013. We arrived around 9 o' clock in the morning, straight from the airport and thoroughly jetlagged. We we're welcomed with fresh fruit juice en big smiles by cook and manager Roshan and his aide Tishara. The villa has a vestibule, a large living room with dining area and three double bedrooms. The bedroom are airconditioned, the living room has a fan. There's an entertainment center with loads of movies and cd's for when the weather isn't to good, but if it's dry it's much nicer to venture outside. The 6000 square metre property has it's own infinity swimming pool, grea foor cooling of at the end of the day. Anytime of the day. Allthough we visited in the southwest monsoon low season, we did not get a lot of rain, except during the night when we were sleeping.The villa is situated about one kilometer inland and it's an easy 10 minute stroll to the beach. As it was low season, there weren't many tourists, so not a lot of beach restaurants and bars were in operation. Basically we had the beach (and the Hug Inn) almost to ourselves. We visited Galle by tuktuk an Roshan took us to a moonstone mine where we made our own silver jewelry. There is a menu, but you don't really need it. Roshan worked as a cook in large hotels and on ships, so he is able to rustle up anything you order. We had all kinds of curry meals, fashioned to the not spicy taste of our kids, but also great spaghetti bolognese. Breakfast with lovely fruits and lunch are also made to order. Roshan does the shopping and you pay the bills and a little extra for cooking gas and petrol.If you book, deal directly with the owner Tam via Flipkey, that way you avoid the bookingfees of agoda. We we're thoroughly spoiled during the week and really enjoyed our stay here.Â
