“Gillbank Cottage” From the outset host Geoff was very informative and helpful, going the extra mile to assist us. The cottage is spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and equipped to a high standard. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes as well as providing good walks on the doorstep. We had a great stay.

Great location 10 minutes from Ambleside and just a short walk to the local pub in Outgate (500 yards) The cottage is modern and comfortable with all facilities necessary for a comfortable stay. Perfect family getaway home

What a great property for a family getaway. We are 3 households from one family with 4 children and 6 adults, from age 3 up to 71. The Old School House was perfect for us. It gave us time to spend together but also gave us our own space. It is perfectly located with plenty of amenities in Hawkshead and within travel distance to plenty of other activities including towns like Ambleside and Coniston, walks to Wray Castle, outdoor adventures for kids and adults alike, steam railways, aquarium, museums, water sports and boat trips on the lakes. A great week was had by all. The property is within 2 mins from local bus service and the town of Hawkshead has several pubs, eateries, Beatrix Potter museum, deli, outdoor wear shops and gift shops. … see more

Lovely cottage in the country with all the comforts of your own home

Our stay at Gillbank was excellent, everything was thought of and the cottage truly is lovely and perfectly clean. The contact with owner Geoff before and during our holiday was great, if we had questions, he answered them almost immediately. No need to bring towels, cleaning products, toiletpaper, bin bags or things like that, evertything is in the cottage, there to use by all the guests. Wifi connection and modern equipment is great. Lakefield House
Lovely spacious house with everything you need

I've been lucky enough to stay a few times at Lakefield House. The house itself is very comfortable with everything you need for a relaxed holiday - games, books, DVDs, more kitchen implements than I own myself. It's also well designed for a big group: it has two living areas, one of which is very spacious with an incredible view of the lake; room to hang wet coats and leave muddy boots, and plenty of bathrooms. Even if you're stuck in on wet days it never gets overcrowded and there's plenty to keep you entertained. The location means we never had to travel very far to see the Lakedistrict sights. It's a few minutes walk to Beatrix Potter's house and there's also plenty of pretty walks we did straight from the house. Nearby we have visited lots of attractions including Ruskin's house, the lakes at Tarn Hows and the working Bobbin Mill, all of which I'd recommend. It really is the ideal place to stay and I have always had a wonderful time at the house in this beautiful part of the Lakes. … see more
The Barn at Walker Ground Manor
The best holiday accommodation ever!

For anyone who loves the outdoors, this accommodation could not be better. It was an extremely clean cottage with everything you could need - a well equipped kitchen, a brand new bathroom, washing machine, warm and amazing views from the windows - there was even a secure shed to keep bikes - watched on by a group of alpacas! The cottage is just a 5 minute walk from Hawkshead where there are 4 great pubs for evening grub, and at the bottom of the bridleway taking you into Grizedale Forest. Fantastic

Paul the owner was very welcoming and room and facilities are great. Our room has a view straight out into the local fields and is nicely tucked away yet accessible. The house overlooks hawks head a short 5 minute walk and you are in the pub and near shops. Lots around the area all a scenic walk or short drive. For the money was amazing and he does a fantastic breakfast Paul offers directions and advice to all local hot spots and images are of Tarn Howls which was a holiday highlight. Advice is not to wear cream shorts and sit on wet ground during walks as per the image If going book all meals in advance as pubs are fully booked normally a few days in advance and can only sit in limited beer gardens when space is available. … see more
