We really enjoyed our holiday in Slovenia, the mountain scenery was spectacular and the green/blue rivers and lakes beautiful, and great for swimming in (due to very hot weather). The people we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The apartment we stayed in was located in a beautiful setting and very convenient for the local shop and restaurant in a quiet village, and about 5km from a larger town Bovec. There are plenty of activities, particularly kayaking, rafting, swimming, walking.The apartment was modern, well equipped and very comfortable (our daughters particularly liked the choice of films). There is a lovely view from the balcony of the mountains, however the apartment is positioned quite close to a local restaurant with accommodation. We therefore found there was a little noise from the restaurant with people eating outside and children playing on the trampoline, but this generally ended once at a reasonable time. Having said this, we loved the location and really enjoyed staying at the apartment. … see more

charming house in a quiet and peaceful area of the Julian Alps with great adventure nearby

This house has been charmingly restored so that it is modern and extremely well equipped inside but sitting in a lovely village with warm and friendly people across the square from the church and it's daily tolling bells.. .Spectacular views all around with quiet walks to the river and adventure sports ,canyonning ,kayaking and rafting close by .There is a restaurant up the lane which has excellent pizza and good reasonable local cuisine .Look for the colorful bread and fish vans which park in the square and sell wonderful homemade bread and fresh fish bi weekly.. I highly recommend a stay at Polovnik House if you are at all interested in outdoor adventure sports summer or winter or if you just want to relax in the shadow of the Alps and enjoy the hospitality and peacefulness of a small village in Slovenia.. .. … see more

Magical emerald rivers, spectacular scenery, fabulous traditional Slovenian home

We had the most fabulous week staying in this 200 year old traditional Slovenian cottage. Central to all that is offered in the Soca Valley, the home provided an exceptionally high standard of accommodation where all needs were considered. The hosts Hannah and Shaun were exceptional in providing advice on local attractions as well as those further afield. We particularly enjoyed the traditional village in which this house was situated. Surrounded by steely grey mountains and emerald rivers this home is an absolute must for those wishing to have an authentic experience in Slovenia. … see more
Rose Cottage
Excellent house in a stunning location

This is a great place to stay. The owners have provided practically everything you could want with many thoughtful touches. The rooms are a good size, it's very clean and quiet. When we had a minor problem, the owners had it rectified almost immediately. The owners were happy to answer any number of queries before we went and their house website is very good with plenty of information about Bovec and how to get there. The house is less than 5 minutes walk from the town centre which has several good restaurants, a helpful tourist office and two supermarkets. We were there in a heatwave with temperatures reaching 37C and the house remained cool even during this. We had planned to do several day-trips to such places as Trieste and Ljubljana but the heat put us off. However there is plenty to do in and around Bovec so they will have to wait another day. We did visit Lake Bled but even this disappointed slightly in comparison to the areas around Bovec! There is a cable car nearby which takes you to 2,200m which is a must even if you don't want to trek further up.
