About Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Way back in 1883, a bunch of settlers came to this area and decided to set up camp. They called the new town 'Defiance' – a nickname used by Glenwood locals today.

It was an apt name, as those who lived there were gamblers and gunslingers – far from the friendly folk who live there now.

What to do in Glenwood Springs

First things first – you have to visit the hot springs. Glenwood is home to the largest mineral hot springs pool in the world, and they’ve been an attraction since 1888.

For a sight unlike any other, head to the Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon. The clear lake spills over the cliffs at Glenwood Canyon, creating beautiful waterfalls. You may not be able to swim, or even dip a toe in, but the view itself will take your breath away.

If you're a fan of the outdoors, there's lots to try – rafting, kayaking, biking trails, hiking tours you can even try zip-lining if you fancy it. For something a bit more relaxed, try fly fishing!
