France apartment or villa with a private pool area | Holiday Lettings
“Recommend a stay in the summer season” Having only visited off season when the village is very quiet and a stay consists of walks, markets, good meals out and cosy evenings, it was great to experience the summer madness. If you ignore the miniature trains , the rest is lovely; bigger markets, quality buskers, shops selling miniature knights Templar, the chance to look around the impressive bastide buildings, and, most importantly the chance for a daily swim in the Dordogne which is 10 minutes away by car, 20 minutes on foot. Read the other review about the noisy neighbours, and thankfully they weren't there during my weeks stay so we enjoyed quiet days and evenings eating dinner in the garden. The house was as comfortable in summer as it had been in winter....a welcome stoney-cool retreat from the heat.
“Villa in Ceret” A great place for a holiday with fantastic links to everywhere. Easy access to the South of France, Northern Spain and Andorra if you can face the drive.
A lovely villa with something for everyone - a great pool and wonderful access to a fantastic river. We took 3 generations and there was loads of space for all to do their own thing, relax and have fun.
“Very enjoyable holiday. Fab accommodation” Really enjoyed our trip to maison dix Neuf. House is great. Modern downstairs with excellent kitchen. Upstairs full of traditional character. Huge master an suite bedroom. 2 further doubles, one is a mezzanine with low beam so be a bit careful but my son had no issues. We really enjoyed the outside space. Lovely pool with outdoor furniture and tropical garden. Not being a sun lover I enjoyed the summer house for reading in and the part shaded hammock. Jarnac is a lovely town, bit smaller than I thought but quaint. Be aware that a lot if shops close on Mondays as well as Sunday afternoon although the main supermarkets are open and only 5 mins drive. Property is very close to the river charente which is pretty and clean. We enjoyed a couple of sessions kayaking on it which has purpose built rapids for novices. Several cognac houses do tours. Courvoisier is the main one but you pay 9-17 euros for a tour. We did the Hine tour which is free and round the corner. You just need to ring or e mail to arrange. As it's free you can spend the money on the cognac! All in all an excellent holiday. Good communication from Philip the owner. We were met by the house keeper Tracy. She was very helpful. We rang her to get access slightly earlier. As we got there on a Sunday when shops closed she even offered us some of her shopping if we were struggling. If you want to go to this area they I would recommend staying here
“Everything, and I really mean everything, to the last detail provided to ensure a perfectly memorable stay” We were a party of six family members all male, five" fortyish" and one senior who stayed at this vacation rental for four days . Our main purpose was to visit various sites connected with World War 1 and to do some shopping and general tourism.
All the arrangements for the stay and the booking procedure went very smoothly. We picked up the keys as arranged and arrived at the Farmhouse around 1630. To say Farmhouse is somewhat of an understatement This rental was more like a mini private estate completely walled and private. Everything that had been told us prior to our booking was true to the last detail.
This was December and the weather wasn't the best. We had thought that as the area is quiet we might be at a loss for something to do but no. There was such a supply of books, videos, music, maps ,board games that not once did we turn on the TV. Table tennis was provided in the main house so this was a further activity. We could not believe that such a high standard could be achieved in a rental. In fact we had a little competition after the second day to see what we could find that might be missing and not provided, if there was anything that was out of place but after a short time we just gave up. Everything that we could possibly need was there. There was so much room in the house that everyone could enjoy private space.
Some members of our party are excellent cooks and with a supermarket just five minutes away together with two butchers shops we were able to stock up with all provisions at very reasonable prices. The kitchen had all the equipment necessary and we were able to run off meals of a very high standard. As for dining all was provided in the way of cutlery etc. so that our table looked like a setting in the Ritz! Conversation at meals and after was enlivened by quantities of excellent wine also locally sourced. As we were able to provide such catering we did not visit any of the local restaurants which we were told are excellent. Guides and maps again provided showed us exactly where these establishments were located should we need them
As to the area this is ideally located and just over an hour from the main places connected with both World Wars so this was excellent from our point of view If pleasant rural scenery is your goal then Delettes is in an ideal position to meet your needs. The sea is just 45 minutes away.
For shopping well just 40 minutes from Calais and all the wineries and hypermarkets as well as small shops are all to hand.
Obviously in December we did not use the swimming pool but if we had been a little more energetic we could have made use of the outdoor court for handball, badminton or used the trampoline.
At any time of the year this rental would be superb for family groups or for groups such as ours. We were six persons but the farmhouse could accommodate up to 12 persons easily
through the use of the extra beds also provided and still not be overcrowded..
From the initial contact with Nick Hamilton through to the moment we locked up on leaving everything ran like clockwork. This vacation rental must be one of the best ever!!
“Great house, really enjoyable stay” Fantastic house, well kept and in a great location.
Nice and secluded but there are plenty of things to do and see in the local area, kayaking, river beaches, walks and bike rides, markets.
Warm welcome and plenty of information provided about the local area.
Highly recommend renting bikes.
