“The chateau is fabulous and we had a great time.” The chateau is well arranged to sleep 8. Our party comprised two families travelling separately from UK and Austria. It was great to have a wing per family on the first floor with connecting door. There is both adult and teenager space as well space for the younger children inside and out; and the surrounding area is lovely for a potter about as well as close enough to make the trip to both coast at St Tropez/Ste Maxime and the magnificent Gorges du Verdon - but the house and gardens with the secluded pool area are not conducive to doing very much and one could happily stay put and chill out for a whole week!
“A Perfect Birthday Weekend” I stayed at the mansion house to celebrate my 30th birthday along with 22 other people. Everything was perfect, the communication from Clare from start to end was helpful, patient, clear and concise. With a large number of people we had lots of requests and questions, Clare was brilliant and provided us with everything we needed. The house has a real 'wow' factor, far more beautiful than the website conveys, that was a lovely surprise. Each room is classy, spacious, cosy and well equipt! A rather clever combination to achieve.
I was introducing people that hadn't previously met so it was great to have enough space so not to 'step on each others toes' and cuddle up on the sofa if we wanted. Yet we had all the grandeur of a table that seats 23, with candelabras and beautiful silverware to throw a lovely dinner party with caterers recommended by the owners.
Biggar town is a beautiful short walk away and has all you would expect, Fish and Chips on Friday comes highly recommended.
It's just a shame we had to leave, everything was perfect, we just need to try it out for a week in the summer with the children now!
“The perfect base for discovering Tuscany” We cannot express enough our gratitude to our hosts for all of the help that they provided us with from the moment we arrived, especially with booking us, (non Italian speaking), into the local restaurant, (non English speaking) on the first night. The food there is excellent.
The villa is a great experience in itself due to the history of the building and the frescoes that adorn the walls and ceilings.
Our apartments were more than we'd hoped for and are a fully contained unit with everything you'll need to go self catering.
In the evenings, a glass of locally produced Chianti in the gardens is the perfect way to end a day of exploring.
Our intention for this trip was to visit as many areas as we could in our 6 night stay and, by using the train system, we managed to see Lucca, Viareggio, Siena, Florence and Pisa.
The local train station is a 15 to 20 minute casual stroll from the villa and it only takes 6 minutes to reach Pisa or 70 minutes to reach Florence.
We highly recommend this location for your trip.
