“If you could bottle what this place has got you'd make a fortune...” Why should you stay here? Wonderful location right on the beach. Fantastic property perfect for a family but was still perfect for us as a romantic break. Loads of room with lots of nice discreet personal touches. Everything was new, clean and modern and well stocked from plenty of lovely thick towels to a pukka packet biscuits - without which no home from home is complete. Open up the whole of the back of the place up to let sea air and sunshine in and relax in the garden or the lounge, or walk 20 feet onto the beach. Claire and Martin, two of the nicest owners we have ever met that couldn't do enough for us, but weren't intrusive at all and totally left us to our own devices, just totally sound. Hayling Island is great, British seaside that feels real but not commercial, and this is one of the best spots you can be there. Just don't tell everyone I'd say. Thanks again Claire and Martin. Customer service is back and alive and well in Hayling Island.

“Smartly furnished, very comfortable and right across the road from very nice food!” We stayed in 1 Police Cottages with our two children(8 and 6). The cottage was very nicely furnished and immaculately clean. All in all it was very well equipped and laid out. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. The village is small but in a wonderful location. It has a small village shop but we chose to avail ourselves of the lovely food in the main hotel. The food was tasty and portions were generous. It was unpretentious and genuinely delicious. I am hoping that we will be able to return in the future. I heartily recommend the cottages to anyone travelling with children as you get some space to yourself for the little ones to make a little noise!

“Excellent, but more importantly.....Homely!” I stayed with my husband and 2year old son in September 2016. The cottage is excellent, clean and well equipped, we felt relaxed and at home immediately. There are two big bedrooms (one with double bed, the other had twin) both had TV's, en-suites, plenty wardrobe and drawer space too. Although we were blessed with good weather, we did find a number of books, games, jigsaws and DVDs in the living room to entertain should the weather turn. The kitchen and utility are well equipped (having a washer/dryer is brilliant) and a downstairs toilet too - excellent! The backdoor opens into the farmyard, Brenda welcomed us to see the animals and tractors, which just made our sons holiday perfect. Couldn't fault Colley Farm, we'd definitely go back.

“Mid winter break” Received clear instructions from owner, Robin, about entry, parking, heating etc We opened the door to greeted by the warmth from the log burner. As the property is old, it had plenty of character, with irregular floors upstairs The cottage is conveniently situated in the centre if the town and those local tourist destinations, such as Canterbury Cathedral, Dover cliffs, vineyards, castles etc. Although our break was mid winter, we were blessed with warm sunshine on three of the 4 days we spent there - we even managed breakfast outside in the garden on the last day.

“Top end comfort - superbly presented.” Stunning setting perched on a hill overlooking hills and valleys and surrounded by farm and wildlife. A warm and friendly interior - extremely well equipped modern kitchen with welcome pack - we demolished the lemon cake and bread and appreciated the fresh eggs - hens seen from window. Very comfy beds - fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. Good location - we did Hay on Wye for books and food; three local castles and then spread slightly further afield to Hereford - didn't make it to Brecon but that was the plan - too many other things to do. It was quite hot at night but the heating is in its infancy and the space age oven took a while to master - but that's me being a bit slow. Very highly recommended - we have two boys - 10yrs and 12yrs.

“Convenient for Durham University” Just home from a long weekend at Willington Hall Cottage. This is truly the cleanest, most spacious and best equipped self-catering accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. I wish we could have stayed for a week. We were visiting my son who’s nearby at Durham university. Durham of course is beautiful but you must also fit in a visit to hand feed the deer at Whitworth Hall which is only a few minutes from the cottage. The owners next door are very welcoming and friendly and will help you out with anything you need to make your stay better - although I can’t think of anything you would need which isn’t already there.

“Best cottage we've stayed in in Suffolk - we'll be back!” Meticulously clean, well-equipped and comfortable (except size of dining table). Good under-cover secure bike parking, with off-road car-parking space too Superb location for us - walking distance into Southwold for pier, shops and harbour, without being trapped by day-visitors' cars in the town when we wanted to go further afield. Location might not suit those who don't want to (or can't) walk very far. We loved the walk from the cottage over the marshes to the harbour and the excellent bird-watching in the area. Good shop, stocking locally-grown veg and daily papers within a couple of hundred yards. Didn't use the beach hut as much as we expected as too much else to do Great cycling in quiet lanes. We will be back ...

The house is maintained to a very high standard, our family of three generations enjoyed a fabulous week in Coverack. “Fantastic cottage” Just wanted to say that we had a fantastic time at this cottage. We absolutely loved the cottage, from the decor to all the homely comforts that makes a holiday plus we were blessed with nice weather, the only time it rained was either in the night or first thing in the morning, so not bad for an English Summer Holiday. What we also loved about the cottage was its location, we visited many places around the New Forest and also spent a day in the Isle of Wight, something that was new to our family which we thoroughly enjoyed.

“Perfect cosy country cottage with perfect hosts” We stayed here with our toddler son whilst looking at houses in the area. The cottage is perched on top of a hill and has a wonderful views over the glossopdale hills. in the evening we were lucky to get stunning sunsets. However, the cottage is still only walking distance from the centre and near a very nice pub "The Beehvive". The cottage (or rather apartment) is very small but perfect for two people with a lounge/kitchen area and seperate bedroom. There is also a seating area outside overlooking the hills. Inside the cottage if perfectly decorated and very well equipped with tea coffee and milk included. We took our toddler who slept in the travel cot in our bedroom and to be honest it was a bit of a tight squeeze and only just do-able. I think I would recommend this more for a couple. However, our little one loved running around the outside area and got lots of attention from the hosts who bought him a toy....so he was happy. Wendy and Andrew were in many ways the perfect hosts and always on hand to offer help. The brownies on arrival were very welcomed after a long journey from London!

“Perfect short break” We have just returned from a 3 night break & the bungalow was perfect. Immaculately clean & has everything you could possibly need, even if you want to cook for yourself. It's a 5 minute walk into the centre of Whitby so our car never moved off the driveway saving us the hassle of trying to get parked in a busy resort. It was so nice to have a whole house to ourselves & situated in a very quiet neighbourhood. Robert, the owner was in contact with us before & whilst we were there to ensure everything was ok & responded quickly to emails & texts. I would so recommend this property to my friends & family & anyone looking for a perfect hideaway to relax in & enjoy time in Whitby

“Lovely quaint cottage - will be visiting again.” Very impressed with the cottage and the area, some lovely walks. The owner's were close by if we needed anything but otherwise they left us alone to enjoy our holiday. Close to Matlock and Matlock Bath and the main attraction for our granddaughter was Gulliver's Kingdom. I would definitely recommend the holiday rental.

“Sea Glass Holiday” St Cuthbert Cottage is s perfect place to stay. It has s story book setting with a beautiful stream in the back, bunnies in the garden and birds chirping in the trees. I felt like I should be writing a Novel it was so beautiful and peaceful. The kitchen meet all my needs. I arrived on a snowy evening to a warm cottage from a fire in the fireplace made by the kindest host, Mick, prior to my arrival. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot. The walk from the cottage to Seaham Harbor is a beautiful 40 minute walk. Very picturesque. A taxi is readily available to any point in Seaham for £3 one way as long as you plan ahead and avoid the school run hours. I stayed alone in the cottage, but it would be very comfortable for a family of 4. Mick arranged for me to have a warm stone massage at the cottage by Carole who did a great job and was very affordable. I would definitely stay at St Cuthbert’s Cottage again.

“Fabulously clean and equipped cottage - very friendly and helpful owner.” We have stayed at the Retreat several times over the last 4 years, and have always found the cottage well equipped and very clean. All conveniences are there, including a library of books / magazines for those wet days! Also a comprehensive number of leaflets etc. giving details of all local events/places to visit etc. It is a very quiet place, set well back (approx. 100 yards) from the road, and overlooking, at the rear, lovely open countryside. Within easy reach of Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Rye etc. along the south coast, and only 3 minutes drive from the local beach. A great place for a restful break.
