“Wonderful Holiday Location” This is the fourth year in a row that we have stayed on the Bovisand Estate (although the first time at this lovely chalet).
We were not disappointed! The chalet is situated in the perfect spot with amazing sea views. You can simply sit in one of the comfortable armchairs and watch the yachts and Naval ships coming in and out of Plymouth Sound.
Although we went in November, the weather was kind to us and a couple of afternoons we sat out on the front patio drinking wine and simply gazing out to sea.
The location is an ideal base for visiting Plymouth (steeped in history and with some good eateries) and for the rest of South Devon. There are some good scenic local walks. One day we walked along the South West coastal path to Jennycliff and Mountbatten and back. It's a steep, challenging walk but with rewarding views and a nice little cafe along the way. You can get the ferry to Plymouth from Mountbatten (free parking) where there is a hotel which serves good bar meals. I had the fish pie which was hearty and delicious.
The chalet itself has everything you need for a vacation and is cosy and warm when the temperature drops at night.
All in all, we had a fabulous stay at Quarterdeck and hope to return next year.
“Perfection” Well where do you start.... Amazing chalet decorated to a very high standard and containing everything you would buy yourself. Take a good look at the photo's because they don't exaggerate the beautiful views, no wide angle lens or trick photography used here. There are no words to describe the feeling of waking up, pulling open the curtains and just sitting there staring out of the window and watching the movement of the sea together with the activity of the navy and private yaughts. There are many places of interest around all reasonably priced - book this holiday you will not regret it.
“Absolutely loved this place!” We spent a weekend here. Everything about the chalet exceeded expectation. The setting was fabulous ... a great big expanse of sea with the constant sound of rolling waves. The chalet is compact (but then it is a chalet!) and very tastefully presented. Not sure if I would manage a week in it though! All the administration was easy and thorough and the woman who was managing it was very helpful.
I would have loved an easy chair or two so that you didn't always have to sit on the caravan style banquette seats. We had a few hours of being able to have the 'patio' doors open and that was amazing! We walked to Beer and back on the Saturday morning along the coast path which was just stunning ... and chips and a pint at a pub in Beer was the icing on the cake.
I wish you could rent the chalet for two nights (the minimum is three but we could only go for two) and the rental was quite steep for two nights. Will definitely go back though!
“A great base for a great holiday” Another great week in the Devon Lodge has flown by!
The lodge has proved once again to be a great location to spend a week in Devon.
The lodge is well equipped, comfortable and spacious..a real home-from-home.
We spent most days on the beach (in the surf with the dog when it rained, relaxing in the sun when it made an appearance. Putsbough and Widemouth proved to be the best!
Bude proved to be good for crabbing at high tide with the local fishing shop selling everything we needed.
My son and I enjoyed some good fishing at the onsite lakes with a 13 pound carp being the biggest catch for him.
A great place to relax and have some fun.
