Something about Spain gets under your skin. The endless miles of sandy beach, array of vibrant cities, and appetising plates of tapas may have something to do with it. You only have to look at how many holidaymakers just can’t stay away to wonder what you’re missing.
The Costa del Sol (or Sunshine Coast in English) is a world-famous stretch of sand kissed by sunshine all summer long. But the sun-drenched destinations don’t end there: the Costa Dorada and the enchantingly named Orange Blossom Coast (Costa Azahar) are all blessed with beaches where you can bask in the warm Mediterranean sun.
Packed with wonders like the Sagrada Familia and Europe’s best-preserved Gothic quarter, Barcelona impresses all year round. Its iconic boulevard, Las Ramblas, is an excellent attraction, as are the Gaudi buildings and the Magic Fountain in the city’s Montjuic quarter.
Spain’s many islands are adored by party-goers, notably the nightlife hub of Ibiza where you can dance from sundown to sunrise. But should all that sound like too much excitement, it’s easy to find a secluded escape. Private villas are dotted around the Balearics, including Mallorca, Menorca and the smallest island, Formentera.
