“Wonderful Villa - perfect location” Having rented villas in previous years for our family of 7 adults & 5 children (ranging in age from 6 to 68) and preferring not to rent cars whilst on holiday, we found that most villas - despite saying car was not essential - were only near a handful of amenities, so wow what a great position this villa is in, a couple of minutes walk from a small supermarket within the exclusive Plaza del Duque shopping centre and only a little further to the beach and loads of restaurants and entertainment. Security wise it is brilliant as there is no access at the front and a private code operated gated road to the only entrance at the back. As it was peak season & the temperature was in the mid to high 30's we did not stray far from the villa during the day, apart from a few trips to the beach. The pool was great (plenty of toys and inflatables) and sun loungers very comfortable, with 4 parasols and a shade over the outside dining table. Children and adults made much use of the table tennis table both in the heat of the day and evening, likewise our boys used the little football area despite the heat (6 footballs lost in total 4 at the front and 2 at the back) but well worth it for the fun!! Accommodation wise - we were three families plus grandma & grandad and each family had plenty of space on each of the three floors, with the air con being very efficient (non in the lower floor lounge but not too bad) and it was in the lower floor bedroom. Bathroom towels were waiting for us and there were a few pool towels but not as many as we thought there would be from previous reviews, so glad we took some of our own. Kitchen was lovely with quality appliances and large fridge-freezer (small fridge also on bottom floor), so we could keep a supply of cold drinks ready to transfer into the main fridge. Lounge very comfortable and loved how it was straight out to the pool. We ate out every night and a number of restaurants along Fanabe beach offered 3 course meals for just under 9 euros, and we were surprised by the choice & quality of them, we found Trip Adviser reviews were generally accurate. Being 12 of us we found that whilst the small nearby supermarket was fine for everyday items like bread, milk etc it was quite expensive (as is usual) and did not stock everything we needed. Mercadona supermarket is only about 4 euros in a taxi but we registered online before we went on holiday and put in 3 online orders during our 2 week stay and they will deliver for just over 7 euros, with prices much lower. Walking from the Villa, within a couple of minutes you can turn right to Playa del Duque beach (small but really nice, though sunbeds expensive) and we were a bit concerned with the rough sea and current which knocked the children over. Go left and down the steps and it is a really pleasant walk with great views round to Fanabe beach. We preferred this as during the day the sea appeared safer and cafes for drinks & snacks were handy and in the evening the entertainment and restaurants were in this area. After 2 weeks we were not ready to go home but unfortunately we had to. Although we did not see Valery, we did send a few e-mails about minor matters and he dealt with them promptly. He was also very obliging in allowing us a later check out time (use of lounge, kitchen and pool area for an extra couple of hours) as we had a late flight - although bear in mind this will not always be possible if the next people are checking in as soon as they are allowed, as cleaning has to be done. The information we received from him before the holiday regarding all aspects of the villa was clear and detailed and codes, keys etc were exactly as advised.
