“Peace and quiet in rural France” We loved the gite and the facilities. It was quiet and very small, which suited our needs perfectly. The location in the village was lovely although you do need a car to get around. We were also very well looked after by the local caretakers. All ion all, we have a fantastic time and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

“Finally - a holiday we ALL enjoyed” This was the holiday that we have been looking for since the birth of our first child. We stayed in the 2 bed La Fleur gite for seven nights with our 3 and a half year old and 18 month old baby. Friends of ours stayed in the neighbouring gite. The major plus point for us was how well the accommodation and grounds have been thought out for families (the lovely owners have a 2 year old and a 6 year old). The play equipment in the garden kept our kids occupied for hours, as the did the mountain of toys left in the gite. Everything we needed was provided as a matter of course. Next time ( we are already working on booking our return trip next year) I will know to only bung clothes and cossies in the suitcase. The property is very secure with a gated and alarmed pool. There are only 2 gites plus the owners' home on site and no escape routes for wayward preschoolers. So, the winning factor for us had to be the knowledge that our active son was safe roaming around the gardens and gites in safety - allowing us to relax. Amazing! A close runner up were the superb wines supplied by the owners - absolutely stonking.

“A lovely relaxing holiday with plenty to do for the kids” We had a fantastic stay at La Maison Bleue. Tucked away amid fields of sunflowers, corn and vines the property was beautifully peaceful and quiet. On arrival we were greeted with a basketful of local goodies - wine, cheese, pineau, milk etc and a few basics to get us going which was great. Although our first day was rainy, there was plenty for the kids to do - particularly popular were the table tennis table and the trampoline. After that first day, the weather was fantastic and we were then able to fully enjoy the huge garden and swimming pool. The kids loved the play tree-house and other things in the garden but we spent most of our time around the lovely pool. For those people who need a little bit of home we had Sky TV and there is also wi-fi access but frankly, apart from keeping up with the olympics, all we wanted to do was relax and forget about home and work etc which this place makes it very easy to do. We had a couple of nice days out - one to a local lake which was lovely for swimming in and one to a beach called Meschers which is about 40 minutes away where we enjoyed sunset pizzas on the beach. Our only other excursion was to a local night market in a nearby village which had live music and local foods and wines etc and was very enjoyable. The owners - JC and Rae will bring you fresh bread and croissants etc every morning if you ask for them and JC is very adept and recommending great local wines. There was nothing more enjoyable than having a BBQ on our terrace with a few glasses of Bordeaux. All in all a really great find and somewhere I would have no hesitation in recommending to anybody with children. We also went with friends who took the other gite and this was perfect as it allowed each family privacy when needed but we were able to socialise around the pool or over a BBQ. A lovely, lovely holiday. Sad to be back !

“Superb” My wife and I have spent a wonderful two weeks in a quiet part of France.....no more than about 45 minute from city life just incase.......there was no real need.....everything about the accommodation was excellent. plenty of space, wonderful pool, patios, bbq......indoor and outdoor were both excellent, well maintained and plenty of room for bigger groups. We had days out to see the sights.....Cognac, La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Ile D'Oleron, Royan, Saintes to name but a few........or days by the pool........or both as the sun was out until late (9:30ish.....beginning of June). Relaxing on the patio with a little of the local Pineau....a couple of steaks or fish on the BBQ...... The 'super-market' 5 minutes away had everything so shopping was easy...... this place is a must for those who wish to completely turn off and relax for a week or so....

“Wow, fansatic” Le Beau Fief, well what can I say but Wow, it is a lovely traditional French gite set a midst of raw farmland. It has been decorated and equipped to the highest standards yet retains all the rustic charm of rural France. We felt at home as soon as we walked into the property, and found it very hard to have to leave at the end of the week. It was such an ideal place to chill out, and that's what we did It would be nice if French Air Traffic Control could re-route the occasional jumbo, which seemed loud as there was no other sounds,except the birds and insects going about their business. The secured courtyard looked lovely while we were there, as every thing was bursting into flower and was in full bloom by the time we left. The people that live in the hamlet were very friendly, one couple even offered us shelter in an unexpected thunderstorm. The towns and villages in the area were delightful,with cobbled streets, leaning buildings and markets, certainly plenty to do for those who want to explore the area. I would high recommend Le Beau Fief to any one who likes the peace and quite of the countryside, but the hustle and bustle is just a hop, skip and a jump away. We would certainly love to visit again, I wonder if the owners would notice if we took up squatters

“Excellent gite in fantastic surroundings” Stayed for one week at La Vielle Grange and it wasn't long enough; it was our first visit to the Charante-Maritime area of France and there are so many fabulous paces to visit. The countryside is just gorgeous. As for the gite itself , it was absolutely perfect - so rare to find a rental for just 2 people that gives you your own pool - all the facilities were excellent and the hosts, Chris and Martin, were brilliant. Right from the booking through to the actual stay they were great. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend la Vielle Grange - a definite 5 star holiday!

“A gem in the heart of the Cognac countryside” Le Petit Dernier was such an ideal location for us. What more could you ask for; lovely swimming pool and garden, walks into the countryside on your doorstep, easy forays into quaint sleepy villages, excursions to the historic sites of Cognac or even La Rochelle and bucket and spade beach trips to the Gironde in half an hour. Needless to say we extended our stay! Gill and Paul were outstanding hosts who made our stay effortless. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
