Those looking for a bit of adventure will thoroughly enjoy a day at Howletts Wild Animal Park. You’ll find herds of gorillas and elephants, plus an amazing collection of endangered species, all roaming the 90 acres of parkland.
Established as a private zoo in 1957, the park opened to the public in 1976 and is noted for its special care and breeding of endangered species. The park boasts the largest breeding herd of African elephants in the UK and one of the largest breeding groups in the world of the silver-maned lion-tailed macaque monkey. It also has the largest family group of western lowland gorilla in the world.
