“Magical Way To Start The New Year” We have done some vacation rentals in the past with mixed results so initially we were considering a hotel in the area -but given that we were a group of ten, ranging in age from 3 to 76, we decided to look for a comfortable home. Well, Nick and Claire's home was the best vacation home we have ever stayed in. The size was just right for our large group. The downstairs den and bedroom were shared by the teens who were happy to have their own space; the upstairs living room with the fireplace became the focal point for late night family stories and the occasional glass of wine. The bedrooms were a good size with more storage space than most hotel rooms. The house is on a golf course close to the river; the whole area was under several feet of snow and about fifteen minutes after our arrival, we were greeted by a deer in the backyard. The keen skiers caught the shuttle right around the corner from the house; the non-skiers enjoyed sledding (using the sleds that were kindly left in the ski closet) and walking in the silence of snow falling among the trees. There are very good grocery stores in the area, and for restaurants, the house is midway between the colourful (but more expensive- except the superb Creperie Catherine) Tremblant resort and the more village-style St. Jovite, both an easy drive away. What made the experience even better were the friendly and helpful owners, Nick and Claire, who have a knack for thinking of all the details that one might need while away from home. It is clear that they love their "Canada home" and they try very hard to make their guests feel the same way. Thank you to the Matthews family for sharing their lovely home (including the Paddington book!) with us.

“A haven to return to” For the past few years my son and his family have been living in Maple Ridge Canada. With the surprise arrival of identical twin boys in 2012, I had to seek alternative accomodation as this brought the total of little boys to 4 - full house. Maria's apartment was like finding gold. 10-15 minutes walking distance from my son. I improved my fitness and was able to contemplate the day each morning and evening. The apartment is set in gardens that are to be envied by all local Parks and Gardens people. Walk to the front of the property and for me , an australian, it is story book material- tugboats ( straight out of Little Golden Books), logs drifting down the river. The sound of the trains as they rumble past. Inside the apartment you have all you need and it is scrupulously clean. You can enhance your cooking by picking fresh herbs from the garden.
