“Best vacation EVER” From the moment Michael met us at the airport I knew we were in for a treat. We were tired by the time we arrived at the villa but when we pulled up to that magnificent home and we saw the staff there to welcome us with cool towels, and glasses of pretty pink rum punch we were hooked. Every room was beautifully appointed and we all agreed the beds were among the most comfortable we have every slept on. From that first nights dinner to the final morning breakfast, the meals were delicious (so delicious, we requested cooking lessons, which Wilvia and her kitchen crew happily obliged...(I made the chimichuri last night in fact). The excursions we had prebooked were as described or better and we very much appreciated the flexibility everyone showed us. We changed numbers, people, and schedules, but no one ever sighed at us or seemed put out by our indecision. They also happily arranged things we didn't prebooked, like two days of massage (at the villa), the cooking lessons and a second ATV trip. In fact it seemed every change or request or wonder was met with a smile and "no problem" from any staff member. Speaking of the staff, Wilvia, Ray, Sasha, Arturo, John, and ALL the others TRUELY added to making this trip that much more special. They saw us at our best and moments of not our best and seemed happy to have us visiting either way. We miss them still. The DR was a beautiful place, the people were kind and excited to talk to us. When we were out and about and were approached by vendors, we were pleasantly surprised not to be hard pressed. We loved the ATV trip and Playa Grande. We all enjoyed DuDu Lakes (but may have been bored to spend 6 hours there...just because we aren't big zip liners). We took, and I recommend, a few toys and candies with us on the ATV trip...it was so fun to see the joy in those children's faces. We didn't drive anywhere on our own, the roads are the scariest part of the island, in my opinion, but our experienced drivers never flinched. I can see Flor de Cabrera as the perfect spot for large groups like ours, for small weddings, and family reunions. I would not recommend it for very young children, unless there is a nanny to watch them constantly (lots of water, open edges, hard surfaces and stair cases). We can't wait to visit again, see the friends we made there and further explore the beautiful land.

“A place unlike anyother.” My family and I have been blessed enough to be able to go to many wonderful places and stay at beautiful places. Sunrise Villa is top on the list. The house and grounds are gorgeous. The scenery is breathtaking but there are alot places that are beautiful. What makes Sunrise Villa special is the incredible staff. No where has there been such a staff that made us feel at home so quickly. They worked hard to meet our needs and where so friendly we felt like we were staying with family. I will never forget our stay at Sunrise Villa.
