“Nostalgia” Once in a great while do you happen upon an unexpected great place. Such was our find when we stayed eleven nights at Marcia and Dennis’s boat house on Roatan. Other reviews have stated the facts: the rental is as advertised, that Marcia supplies you with great information before you come about where to shop and where to eat, and that Marcia and Dennis make available their contacts throughout the island. What we found not captured in the other reviews is that this is a place of serenity and beauty where you can drop into island time. If you want access to a lot of bars and parties, go to somewhere on the West End; if you want to get away to a peaceful setting, this is it. We have been to several snorkeling places throughout the Caribbean, and this is the place we are the most nostalgic about. And we are not alone; the groups before and after us were returning customers. You can’t beat this. Jim and Donna

“Gorgeous Property” The villa was perfect and easily accommodated our two families totalling 9 adults. It's accurately describe online and well appointed. The pictures and video are accurate and do it justice. Will, the onsite property manager, quietly worked hard every day to keep the entire property in order. The owners were very accommodating to our special requests. Roatan Life Vacation Rentals is first class. Thanks Mike, Liz, Chenin and especially Mark who went beyond the call of duty for a wonderful vacation and accommodating our family surprise. It was perfect.

“Unspoiled paradise!” If you love the Caribbean, but hate the crowds, this is the place for you. It's a little harder to get to and lacks some of the creature comforts of the big resorts, but the trade off is well worth it. Lynn is really helpful in planning your itinerary. The house is clean, roomy, comfortable, well equipped and literally feet from the water. You can kayak to several uninhabited islands and the charming Utila Cays. There's an awesome coral reef for snorkeling right in front of the house and miles of gorgeous shoreline to meander along. We'll definitely be back!

“Paradise Found” We spent 8 nights at Turtle Beach. Having never been to the Caribbean before we had no idea what to expect. The pictures do not do this property justice. It is stunning. The property is gorgeous and meticulously maintained by Carlos. The private beach is beautiful with palapas, kayaks, beach loungers, snorkel gear and floaties for spending hours floating on the water. The cabins are situated so that you can be social and visit with other guests or spend some time alone. The bbqs are restaurant quality and the cabins are fully stocked with anything you would need for cooking. Paul and Tommy were amazing - Paul will make sure you have absolutely everything you need, his daily trips to the store ensured we never ran out of anything!! No request was too much - you will need for nothing. Through Tommy we found the most incredible places to visit on the island. He helped us arrange a day of fishing and grilled all the Tuna we caught for us!He is full of fantastic information and will bend over backwards for his guests. Either Paul or Tommy are always on the property so you feel safe and secure at all times! The location of this property is ideal - half way between west end and west bay. A five minute water taxi ride will get you to either location. You have easy access to everything on the island from here and a quiet place to relax at the end of the day. We found some of the best snorkeling out front of the resort. We saw a spotted eagle ray, barracuda, fish, corral, lobster, an octopus and a small sea horse. All of these were about twenty - fifty feet from shore. Diving in Roatan is also incredible - Turtle Beach can arrange your diving and the boat will pick up from the beach. Make sure your bring bug spray - you are in the jungle. Sunscreen is one of the few things on the island that is quite expensive. The island itself is a beautiful place to visit. We loved this property and its owners so much we've already booked two weeks next year!!!

“Milady's little green heaven” Milady's apartments were just what I was looking for, a location that was found nested in a green forested setting along with her yard of various trees and garden. I was looking for seclusion, a get-a-way and I found this in Milady's little green heaven. Her apartments are only a short walk from "down town" Utila. Milady is filled will much energy is very willing to help you enjoy this very wonderful Caribbean island. She is able to arrange a wide number of activities for you to enjoy. She helped me with dive shops and acted as a guide on several snorkeling, kayaking and hiking excursions. One of the memorable hikes was one across the island of Utila with her naturalist friend Max. Utila Town only occupies a small portion of the island and Max and Milady showed me a large portion of the north side only accessible by kayak along a canal that that can follow all the way to the island's north shore. I was presented with red mangroves, dry tropical forest, savannas and huge orchids. The snorkeling off the north beach was truly colorful and we were the only ones there. Milady is a painter and her art work is very expressive and colorful. She is extremely kind, happy, beautiful, helpful and friendly person. She offers superb attention and help all the time. Milady recommendations will help you to enjoy Utila to the fullest.

“A'Mazing L'Alize” From the minute we decided to book L'Alize until we boarded the plane to leave Roatan we were given top notch service. Our pre-trip planning was a breeze and we had tons of help from the owner and manager. Upon arrival we were met at the airport and taken to the local grocery store to stock up on supplies. From the store it was about a 20-minute ride to L'Alize. Thankfully the house came with a van because the walk out to the road is steep!. We were given a tour of the house by Tish (the manager) and introduced to Olga, Edie, and their family (our caretakers, cooks, and concierge). The house is as described, perhaps even better, and pictures can not show how truly amazing it is. From the second you walk through the door you are preoccupied with the incredible view out every window. We spent a great deal of time on the decks but there were nights we had to eat inside because the breeze could be a bit much. However, waking up in the morning in the master suite is unbelievable! The breeze rolls through the room, the sound of the ocean is in the distance (along with a rooster), and you can lay in bed and watch the sunrise as cruise ships pass by. The kitchen is very well stocked and it was easy to cook for our large group (12 total). There are stairs everywhere at L'Alize and you must conquer a fair amount of them to get to the beaches. Both beaches are decent and Edie attempts to keep them clean but a fair deal of trash can wash in each night. The surf was a bit much for snorkeling for most our group but it was possible. The main beach in front of the house is next to the caretaker's house but the second beach (a 10 minute walk) is quite secluded. You are between West Bay and West End and both are easy to reach (we spent the majority of our time between the two). South Shore Zipline is a very short ride from the house (You will pass it daily). We ended up spending $140 for gas but we were constantly on the move. You will not be sorry if you stay

“Great allocations, excellent hosts.” Laguna Vista apartment sure is one of or the top of the list of possible accommodations at Utila. As a first time visitor Tony & Jo´s hospitability proved to be a priceless support in guidance of the best spots and fun possibilities that the place has to offer.

“Great trip, great accomodations” I stayed along with 5 friends at Casa Ladera for a week in October. The accomodations were great, with close proximity to restaurants, shopping and bars. We traveled to the other side of the island several times, and recommend The asylum, a little restaurant/bar on the South side that sits in the water on a pier. The Fantasy Island Resort is also a fun day trip with facilities, snorkeling, and restaurant. We found the house to be roomy, comfortable, and conveniently located. Rogers
