“house is very good and nice furnished inside and beautiful garden” very nice surroundings to explore by bike and by car . Carcassone is around 50 min and worth to visit . The coast is not too far around half an hour to 1 hour. Gruissan is ideal for windsurfing and kiting. also Argèles sur Mer is fantastic for windsurfers but 1,5 hour drive from the home.
inside the house everything is at disposal. nice bedrooms especially the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor is like a suite and beautiful.
the swimmingpool is fantastic as well the whole garden. you can eat always outside because there are different spaces to do so. there is also a fridge in the pool house.
some things to know : the nearest supermarkets namely Carrrefour, Lidl and Intermarché are not so near to the house namely around 12 km. they apply normal prices. there is also a small supermarket CAsino in Villedaigne around 2 km from the house but very expensive and very limited choice without fresh fruits. not recommended
there is a grocery store on the other side of the road but only open from 8.30 till 9.30 h and about bread you have to order one day in advance and choice is very limited. so we bought our bread at the friendly bakery in Villledaigne. this baker has also very good small pizza's and guiche lorraine .
we plan to go back .
the owner of the house lives at the property in an appartment which is situated in one part of the house.
during the third week of july we had three days of high winds. weather in this region is not too hot between 28 and 32 degrees which is ideal.
“Great Views, lovely Villa” We arrived late due to getting lost in the area, eventually called Annie who looks after the Villa and lives nearby, her husband came out in the dark and found us about 3 miles away, we were eternally gratefull. And she gaves us some food and next day showed us where the supermarket was. Great service.
The Villa is in a lovely spot and has all you would need, very nice accomodation, great pool and the highlight for us was the outside dinning area on the first floor balcony, great views. If anyone is a half decent cook then nothing better than having dinner on the balcony with good food and a few bottles of local excellent wine.
The Villa is in a good area with lots to see and do a short journey away.
Would love to go back sometime.
Make sure you have good directions
You will need a hire car
Make sure you leave time in the day to get back to the villa to relax in the late afternoon it is well worth it

“The perfect apartment in the perfect location” We stayed in the apartment for the month of June. The apartment is extremely well appointed and ideally located for all local sights and amenities. It is comfortable, roomy, light and airy and has everything you need. Much thought has been given to the renovation and the spiral staircase is a particularly attractive feature. The courtyard is a sun trap and gets the sun for most of the morning, making for a very relaxed start to the day. Jason is the perfect host - accessible without being obtrusive. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Apartment Soult.

“Beautiful gite - home from home” We stayed at Chateau D'Eau the last week in July and had a really wonderful holiday. The apartment is on the ground floor of a beautifully converted stone barn, attached to the main house. The owners have done a lovely job of converting the house and gardens to a very high spec. We've never stayed in such a well-equipped holiday home - every piece of kitchen gadgetry you could wish for! The pictures don't really capture just how much room there is to spread out.
There's no air conditioning but don't let that put you off. The walls are so thick that the temperature stays nice and cool inside, and there's a good ceiling fan in the bedroom.
The owners couldn't have made us feel more welcome as we took over their garden and pool and they even lent us a couple of bikes to explore the area.
Montlaur is a pretty little village and it doesn't take long to drive into Carcassonne (20mins) or across to Narbonne and the coast (40mins). We've never been to the south of France before and we both fell in love with the area - the trouble is, we've been so spoilt with this accommodation that we're reluctant to try anywhere else now!
“Lovely spacious apartment in a great location” We have just returned from a fantastic 2 weeks in Quillan. Loads of helpful communication with the owner before we left. We were greeted and shown round by the English key holder who also gave us tips and was very pleasant. The apartment was fantastic and suited our family perfectly. Set on 2 floors plus the fantastic roof terrace where we spent many an evening, we all had plenty of space. It really was like a home from home, tastefully decorated with a modern kitchen and all extremely well kitted out. We didn't want for anything! There were also plenty of guides, maps, games etc which all helped make our holiday fabulous.
The location is perfect for exploring the Aude region which is all so beautiful. We visited so many of the lovely towns, castles, rivers, beaches and all were within easy reach of Quillan.
Within the town itself, the apartment was also well situated right in the town centre close to bars, restaurants, the pool etc.
All in all a brilliant holiday and we will definitely be back. Thank you Mike and Brian for letting us stay in your lovely home.

“Great accommodation, great location.” Main House was excellent, beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds and an outstanding view across the valley and towards the Pyrenees and also Rennes-le-Chateau.
The swimming pool isn't very large but excellent for a cooling dip and great for our teenage children. The ping-pong table was a huge bonus and kept the children entertained throughout the week.
The downstairs gite was an excellent addition to the living space but needed a good airing, as conveniently it is only rented with the main house when needed and never as a separate rental. It had obviously not been needed by the most recent previous bookings and there were also some issues with one of the downstairs bathrooms.
The area is wonderful, great for rafting, walking, wine tasting (but will need a designated driver as the best wines are out near Maury and Tuchan). Andorra is a a great day out for the serious driver and Carcassonne and the Cathar castles are a must!
Overall a very good rental and one I would certainly rebook if returning to the area.
“Great accommodation in good location.” This is a spacious and well appointed gite in very good condition. It has plenty of outdoor space too, ideal for BBQ, with the bonus of a pool. The location is peaceful with easy access to the surrounding places of interest with Carcassonne and the sea only a short drive away.
The owners, Louise and Michel, could not have been more helpful and friendly, offering plenty of advise and information on the surrounding area. We were very happy with our stay here.

“Nice place to stay for a visit to Carcassonne” The apartment was well situated for access to shops and services and a short walk from the airport shuttle drop off at the station. Met by English lady who showed us how the place worked and presented with a bottle of local wine as welcome gift. All you could need for a short stay and had English DVD selection so the awful French TV could be avoided! Comfortable with all essentials to hand, you really wouldn't want to be staying up in the 'Cite' , might look nice but no supermarkets round the corner as this place has. Also Place Carnot ,again a stones throw away, has some nice eateries on it. Very pleased with the apartment!
“Just wonderful!” Have just returned from three weeks at La Grange and have had a wonderful time. The house is in a quiet rural location (excellent for walking our dog) but is well served with local amenities. It is furnished and equipped to a really high standard and is a very comofrtable home from home. The pool and gardens are lovely too.
The house is a pleasant 20 minutes drive from Carcassonne and is nestled amongst many vineyards and wineries. We can particularly recommend Chateau de Pennautier for their wine and excellent restaurant.
The owners were very helpful both before and during the stay; answering questions about the region, arranging hire of a travel cot for our grandson and texting during our stay to make sure all was well.
The local store/bar/restaurant proved to be a godsend providing bread and croissants each morning and the most amazing pizzas we've ever had when we were too lazy to cook one night.
Cannot recommend it highly enough. You will not be disappointed!
