“A Serene and Magnificent Hideaway” This wonderful apartment, just minutes away from auckland, is our favorite hideaway for settling into New Zealand life following a grueling 14 hour flight from our home country. There is nothing the hosts won't do to ensure a comfortable and warm welcome and ongoing stay (including a fresh supply of "basics" and treats in the refrigerator and cupboard). Situated very privately at the top of an upscale home, this apartment is very tastefully decorated and has all the modern conveniences needed for a "home away from home". When we visit City Bush, we like to eat in and dine out in equal proportions. The small village of Titirangi, within walking distance, or a 5 minute drive from City Bush boasts a few excellent restaurants, or we travel the 20 minutes to the viaduct downtown or to Ponsonsby to take in some of the excellent fare offered by those areas. But we find it truly difficult to leave this accommodation once we arrive. It is the perfect place to unwind. It literally feels as though you are in a "cabin in the woods". Surrounded by the lush, local vegetation (including a commanding view of an ancient kauri tree) and the ongoing sounds of birdsong, it is a perfect retreat.
“Cosy and Quiet” We just stayed 2 nights at the Grasshopper for a short stay. Location was perfect as minutes walk from the wedding venue we were there for. The cottage is well set up and was suitable for children (although note the bedrooms are upstairs). Nigel kindly sourced a portacot for us which was appreciated. There is a lovely deck out from the dining area and some good books and Dvd's to get into if you are staying for long enough. We would stay again here - for longer next time I would hope!! :)
