“What a gem” What a fantastic place. Stayed with friends for a long weekend and was very lucky with the weather, able to enjoy the hot tub and the lovely decking area and made use of the bbq. Spotless house the decor is lovely with a comfortable lounge and well equipped kitchen. We didn't venture far just enjoyed the lovely surroundings and was lucky enough to spot a red squirrel. Mel was good at answering any questions. We will def be back.
“family stay” we enjoyed our short stay in the cottage, it made it more special considering some of my family members owned and lived there early during the last century. with some of the original features still present it gave us a brief insight to how it may have been.
“Beautiful location, wonderful accomodation, first class service” We stayed for a long weekend at Buchaness Lighthouse Cottages. The booking process was personal, fast and simple - exactly as it should be. Sheila was quick to respond to any questions I had about the cottage and pass on information about the local area. Checking in was a breeze, Sheila was on hand to show us around and answer any questions. The cottage itself was beautiful, fantastic kitchen with all facilities you would ever require, a cosy living room with a ready to light coal fire, tv, comfy chairs and a window seat overlooking the sea with high powered binoculars! The bedrooms were a delight, the beds oh so comfy, the bathroom was excellent, big bath, rainfall shower head, heated towel rail and plenty of quality cleaning products. There were additional little touches that make a difference - chocolate lighthouses on our beds, fresh flowers, fishing rods we could use, books on local history, guides on things to do, tea, coffee and milk to get us going. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - stunning coastal views, amazing walks around the rocks, peace and quiet, total relaxation, the coast line to the north is some of the most stunning you would see anywhere in the world. My only gripe was having to leave! In fact Sheila was on hand to wish us goodbye and was even good enough to give me a book on lighhouse accomodation free of charge on learning of my interest in staying in them. Congratulations Sheila, we will be back again very soon!
“Perfect pet friendly cottage with harbour view, just a few yards from a beautiful beach” The older part of Sandend consists of about 50 stone cottages where the fishermen and their families lived. Dram cottage is one the best locations as it overlooks the harbour, an unusuallly has it's own car parking space. You only need to walk around the corner to the huge sandy beach, where dogs are welcome, and you can swim, or join the body borders in the surf. Places to visit are Findlater Castle just a couple of miles along the coast, you can explore this for free if you're brave enough! There are many other lovely villages to explore Fordyce which has a Bistro, Portsoy with it's scenic harbour, and Cullen with several good shops an excellent restauarant, and the beach with great food available .
