Newfort House is refurbished to a luxury high standard, an original granite Scillonian Cottage, offering a 2 bedroom self catering apartment set on the bay of Hugh Town in Porthloo on St Mary's, the main Island of The Isles of Scilly. It features a spacious south facing outside deck with dinning table for 6 and 2 sun loungers

Available to rent from April through to October when the ISSC Scillonian Ferry operates to the Islands, we can accommodate up to 4 adults in 2 bedrooms, bedroom 2 can have a double or 2 single beds as required, just let us know in advance. Children 5 and over welcome, we are Dog Friendly for one well behaved small to medium size single Dog. We provide a small welcome pack of local milk, butter, bread and jam, plus complimentary toiletries in the bathroom

We offer bookings on a week basis with a change over of Thursday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time in the booked week with notice.

The cottage is set over 2 floors with 2 double bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. Beautifully renovated with wooden floors throughout, It has it's own entrance hallway, lounge with wood burning stove, TV, Radio and DVD plus free WiFi. It features a fully equipped modern kitchen with full facilities, microwave oven, gas cooker, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer plus washer and dryer.

The cottage is fully heated with underfloor heating, and a luxury bathroom featuring full size bath with rainfall shower and twin basins.

We are a short 5 minute walk into the centre of Hugh Town and The Quay for easy access to the off Islands. We sit next to two quiet beaches, within easy reach to a number of art galleries, cafes, a sailing school and coastal walks.

Prices listed here are a "from price" for the low season, please enquire with dates for a full quotation. Prices & Bookings via Trip Advisor include Trip Advisor payment protection at additional cost. We offer bookings on a week basis with a change over of Thursday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time in the booked week with notice.

Prior to arrival it will help us keep you informed if you can indicate a good contact mobile number, please let us know in advance if you are on The Scillonian or flying, there is local transport from St Mary’s airport, just ask for Newfort House. We can store your luggage until the house is ready for you, we are a short 10 minute walk from the main town with local Shops, Pubs and Cafes. The keys to the property will be available from 4pm on your day of arrival, we will be around the house to welcome you in. If you arrive early we can store your luggage until the house is ready.

Thank you for your kind review. The sea view can be enjoyed from the bedrooms and bathrooms, we do not advertise this as a key benefit, but we are 50 metres from the beach. The cottage is considered luxury for The Isles of Scilly and above expectations compared to equivalent Duchy of Cornwall properties, which would charge a 25%+ premium on our prices. The cottage has every modern convenience for a self-catering cottage, including a fully equipped kitchen, washing appliances, full entertainment system with satellite TV, and full Wi-Fi. We are not a hotel. We went out of our way to provide you with a hot meal on arrival as a courtesy, we aim to please where we can. But as a self-catering, you are expected to meet your own dietary requirements or eat out. Unfortunately, we experienced an unusual cold snap while you were staying and increased the underfloor heating at your request. (Furthermore, we pushed it to 26 degrees C in the lounge!) We are positioned out of town and the location can be viewed on the map provided, we also provide a link to Google maps in our welcome e-mail sent out a month prior to arrival. We are sorry you did not enjoy The Isles of Scilly, it is a unique location and does not provide "seaside attractions" of larger communities. Our visitors come here to enjoy walks and traditional local beach or boating experiences. We hope you had a safe journey home, thank you again for staying with us.

Why can't I call Tim (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Tim (the owner) a message.

If Tim (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
