From the owner

Craigdarroch Cottage is a quaint, newly refurbished coachman's cottage which dates back some 100 years. It is located in a peaceful spot in the centre of St Fillans in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. St Fillans is a pretty village situated on the banks of Loch Earn. The cottage is ideally located to explore the National Park and the Southern Highlands. There is plenty to do including walking, cycling, golfing, fishing and water-sports. You can access several walks directly from the cottage from a gentle stroll along an old railway or be more adventurous in the surrounding mountains; both providing stunning views of Loch Earn. Wildlife is in an abundance in the surrounding area including red deer, ospreys on the loch and red squirrels. Each season brings its own stunning scenery and provides fantastic photography opportunities. The cosy cottage benefits from a loch view which you can enjoy while relaxing with your feet up in front of the wood burning stove after a day in the Scottish countryside. The living area is open plan with a kitchen, cooker island with breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable sofas surrounding the log burner. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering.A new decking has been built which can be reached by climbing approximately 30 steps and affords a stunning view down the loch. Bed linen and towels are provided and heating is included in the rental price. A starter fire pack will be provided. Further wood and peat can be bought locally either in the Village Store or nearby Comrie. Dogs are welcome but are not permitted in the bedroom and a small fee is applicable. St Fillans Village Store is located a few minutes walk from the cottage where you can buy groceries and newspapers. It also has a cafe providing snacks, coffee, ice cream and cakes. You can purchase fishing permits here for Loch Earn. There are two hotels in the village which offer evening meals if you feel like dining out (please note they have seasonal opening dates and times). The third one has just been purchased (Aug 2013) by Arran Breweries. It is reported that it will be refurbished and facilities will include a micro brewery, bar and restaurant. The bar is now open but again has seasonal opening times.St Fillans has its own 9 hole golf course, each hole is challenging and the scenery is breathtaking. There are many golf courses to choose from the vicinity including the prestigious Gleneagles. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Stirling can all be reached by car within 1 hour 15 mins.Well behaved dogs are welcome in the cottage (extra charge applicable).Short breaks may be possible in low season or last minute. Please contact owner for availability.
