Albertine Lodge was once a working farmhouse. It has been sympathetically restored to blend in with the beautiful natural landscape surrounding it. The 5 bedrooms are all large doubles. Two bedrooms have King size beds, two have large Doubles and one room has 2 small Doubles which would take 2 or 3 children each. The downstairs bedroom has an ensuite wet room shower. The house comfortably sleeps 10 adults but can accommodate additional children on request.
The open plan kitchen, dining and living area can comfortably seat a full house. The kitchen is well equipped and will make cooking a pleasure with both a country range and an electric hob and oven to cook from. There is a large flower and herb garden at the back door and you are welcome to snip a few fresh herbs to add to your meals.
There's a separate cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove, TV and plenty of books and magazines.
Albertine Lodge is named after a beautiful rambling rose which summer guests will see in bloom along with plenty of other scented and colourful flowers in the garden.
The character of the house was there from Day One and with every little improvement during its restoration it has evolved to become a truly unique and charming place to stay. You will find a mix of old and modern, quirky and cheerful all blended together to make your stay as relaxing, comfortable and homely as possible.

1 minute drive away:
Brings you to Albert Lock where you can watch the boats and barges pass between the River Shannon and the Canal.
2 minutes drive:
The house is situated between the two beautifully preserved harbour villages of Drumsna and Jamestown. Both are a 2 minute drive or a 15 minute walk. Drumsna has village shops, pubs and a new children's playground whilst historic Jamestown hosts the award winning Cottage Restaurant.
5 minutes drive:
Nearby Carrick on Shannon is the hub of Lovely Leitrim. A 5 minute drive brings you straight into town where you'll find restaurants, tea rooms, traditional pubs and modern bars. Take a walk out over the River Shannon on the boardwalk. Enjoy browsing in boutique clothes shops, antiques, interiors and book shops. There's lots for children with a soft play centre with summer activity camps, playgrounds, cinema and swimming pool. Activities in the area include electric bike hire, 18 hole golf, indoor shooting, go - karting or fishing or simply while a way an afternoon on the Moonriver boat.
20 minute drive:
Within a 20 minute range you could treat yourselves to afternoon tea and a visit to the gardens of Lough Rinn Castle. Spend a day at Lough Key Forest Park and Activity Centre where you can try Ziplining, take a tree top walk or enjoy a picnic on the lake shore.
Kilronan Castle boasts a truly world class spa and do great day packages if you want to really wind down.
There are heaps more places within a short driving distance including numerous walking trails, an Eagle centre, Strokestown House, Arigna Mining Centre, horse riding, water sports and Tullaboy pet farm - fun even without little ones!
45 minutes to an hour's drive:
The Rossinver Organic Cenre is about a 45 minutes away and is a lovely place to appreciate the Good Life.
If you're yearning for sea air, you can reach the coastlines of County Sligo on the Wild Atlantic Way in just under an hour.
Rural location so would be difficult without a car. Train and buses from Dublin stop in Carrick on Shannon. Carrick on Shannon is a 50 minute drive from Knock west of Ireland Airport and a 2 hour straight drive from Dublin Aiport.
Please note: Whilst you are surrounded by nature the house is on a road and it is not in isolation with neighbouring houses nearby. Baby provisions including cot available on request.
House Rules
The house is located in a residential area with neighbours nearby. Please be considerate of the neighboring families iat all times and no outdoor noise after 11pm.
Sorry but we cannot take pets (including collections of Hens or Stags! ;-). No smoking.Check in from 3pm. Check out at 11am but can be extended with prior aggreement wherever possible.
