We would like to introduce JasmineVilla and B&B. This impressive villa with its large swimming pool is situated on a quiet residential lane in the picturesque town of Koycegiz. This 'off the beaten track' town is located on a lake with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, a boat ride away from the Mediterranean Sea and 25 minutes from Dalaman International airport.
Villa Jasmine is a self-catering, private villa- however, we also offer an extra service. Breakfast, pool-side snacks and dinner can be served on request by the friendly owners, Bulent Hava and his family, who live nearby.
The traditionally styled villa started out as a typical Turkish 'cottage' about 100 years old, but has recently been restored and extended to provide comfort as well as traditional Turkish features. The original stone and brick walls have been retained in the main part of the villa, ensuring it stays cool in the summer months. The original fireplaces have been restored and the owners have also replicated the beautiful original wooden floors and decorative ceilings typical of the Mugla region in the bedrooms. Villa Jasmine is traditionally decorated throughout and features an Ottoman-seating area where you can laze around on Turkish cushions. As well as the many traditional Turkish features the property is light and airy with all modern conveniences, fully air-conditioned and equipped to a high standard with your self-catering holiday in mind.
Each of the five bedrooms are simply decorated and furnished with wardrobes, side and dressing tables and traditional Turkish kilims. The wrought iron headboards on the beds complete the look of these comfortable, air-conditioned rooms. The master bedroom is upstairs and has an en suite wet shower room and large private balcony, the perfect place to sit and admire the views of the pool below and the surrounding mountains. Downstairs there are four twin bedrooms, one of which has an en suite bathroom, as well as a very spacious ground floor bathroom.
Villa Jasmine has a large fitted, open plan kitchen-dining room with attractive granite worktops, and every modern convenience including washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, gas hob and microwave oven. The villa is equipped with crockery, cutlery and glasses. The kitchens lead out onto a spacious terrace overlooking the large pool, with outdoor furniture as well as Turkish 'sedirs', traditional raised seating platforms furnished with comfortable cushions- a perfect place to relax and sip an evening aperitif.
The large pool (12m x 7m) also features a separate, small children's splash pool and is surrounded by an attractive marble terrace with sun beds and a beautiful garden featuring flowering plants and fruit trees. The local area is one of the few places in the world where 'Liquid Amber' trees (liquidambar orientalis) can be found. They produce the resin more famously known as frankincense and emit a sweet, fragrant aroma. Villa Jasmine boasts a line of these special trees bordering the pool and garden, their scent adding to the special ambience of the pool and garden area.
Villa Jasmine sleeps ten people, but also has two sofa beds sleeping two extra people, and extra beds can be added to bedrooms for children on request. It also has wireless broadband internet connection, satellite TV with BBC World and other English channels, a DVD player and a CD player. For those with small children, bottle steriliser, high chair and travel cots, as well as childrens' DVD's, are available on request. With the safety of small children in mind, the owners have also added a gate to the terrace.
The villa is just 5 minutes walk from the beautiful lake and the town centre of Koycegiz where you will find a mixture of modern and traditional buildings, with plenty of shops and small supermarkets. A two-minute walk takes you to the nearest local supermarket and the bakery and pastry shop where you can buy a variety of freshly baked bread and Turkish 'simit'. The attractive town square, surrounded by magnificent eucalyptus trees leads to the long promenade stretching along the lake with its stunning views of the mountains. Here you can sit and admire the view in one of the many friendly cafes or excellent restaurants. The emblem of Köycegiz, an ancient statue of a lion (in Turkish, 'aslan'), can be found in the shady tea garden in the square.
Every Monday a large, bustling market takes over the town centre selling locally produced fresh fruit and vegetables as well as souvenirs, jewellery, shoes, clothes, textiles… and anything else you could possibly want!
Boat trips across the lake to the natural hot springs and mud baths, the Mediterranean Sea and Turtle Beach (so called because of the Loggerhead Turtles that nest there) are a must…. and you can also visit the ancient city of Caunos with its amphitheatre, temples and Roman baths.
