From the owner

Your own private villa with pool amidst beautiful rolling countryside, in the heart of the Dordogne, an ideal base to explore all that the region has to offer. Visit the historic sites and chateaux, sample the gastronomy and some of the finest wine from Bergerac and Bordeaux. With a host of activities, events and festivals throughout the summer. Probably one of the best regions of France with an unspoilt landscape, charming medieval stone villages, some spectacular scenery and a pleasant climate.

Set within landscaped gardens and woodland, Campagnac Villa has spacious and comfortable modern accommodation with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Approached by a small lane winding up from the valley through the woods, the property offers total peace and tranquillity.

For fresh bread and morning croissants the local village with, a few shops including baker, butcher and organic grocery store is a five minute drive, for everything else supermarkets and tourist office the market town is 14 minutes away.

You can enjoy eating in, dining al-fresco or choose one of the local and inexpensive restaurants. For that special gourmet meal you should discover the restaurant Le Lion d'Or in the nearby village of Manzac-sur-Vern. Here you may enjoy a wonderful meal dining out on the terrace and at a very reasonable price. The Perigord is renowned for it's gastronomy and is the best value for money in the whole of France.

Staying at the villa affords the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. Enjoy the relaxed pace of life, browse around the local markets and take in the scenic countryside and wild life. For the more energetic take a day out to canoe down the Dordogne, a pony trek through the forest paths or a river trip on a traditional flat bottomed gabare (ancient sailing barge).

The villa has a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, separate wc, plus two further bedrooms, one twin, bathroom and wc on the first floor. You should find everything you need for an enjoyable stay. There is English UK television as well as French, a DVD and sound system, plus WiFi Internet access. The large grounds are fully enclosed as is the pool area and gates lead out to the woods.

The villa is located close to the end of the lane which becomes a track, so no passing traffic, very safe and quiet. It is difficult to convey everything about the villa, here is what one guest said "Campagnac Villa is a little gem. Furnished to a high standard but more importantly it feels like a very classy home from home. The thoughtfulness of the owners into what people might sensibly want whilst staying there shows an insight into how to give people a great holiday. Bergerac isn't far, with a range of eateries, boat rides on the gabares and so on, and the whole of the Dordogne is accessible really quickly. All in all, Campagnac ticked all of our boxes."

Ground floor double bedroom, first floor double bedroom (160cm x 200cm) and twin bedroom (2 x single beds).

isolated villa

Owner's reply:
We take account of all our guests comments and I regret that you found the location of the villa was too isolated for your holiday, it is in the countryside and very peaceful but not as remote as you describe. The local village of Villamblard is 2km away (a 5 minute drive) and has a grocery store, baker, butcher, post office and bank, plus small market on Monday morning. The cafe restaurant there serves meals as does another restaurant in the next village of Issac, 5 minutes in the opposite direction. A lot of restaurants are closed on Monday and as you arrived late in the evening the shops and supermarkets were closed (8PM closing). The lane to the villa is a single track tarmac road, not a dirt track, and the market town of Mussidan with supermarkets, shops and tourist office is 13km away along the main road, which I would not describe as busy. Bergerac is a maximum 30 minute drive (20km). The property appears on some sat nav systems, but not all, it is also on Google maps with street view. The Lion d'Or restaurant is a 15 minute drive, but taking a taxi after 7PM (when night tariffs apply) can be expensive and especially so if you asked the taxi to wait. The villa is continually being improved (example: new large flat screen television in 2015, new double bed for next season, etc.) and the kitchen is purposely left with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and condiments for cooking, these are not 'left over'. I feel that you chose an out of town countryside property when you would have preferred somewhere within walking distance to bars, restaurants and cafes, perhaps this tainted your view of the villa. In any event as I have said we do take onboard your comments, the poolside lighting has been repaired and the patio chairs replaced.
