The birthplace of the Renaissance, the olive groves and cypress trees of Tuscany are Italy itself for many visitors. The rolling landscape with its cultivated vineyards and its remnant wildness, is a particularly beautiful and tranquil destination. Nestled within the landscape are some of the treasures of the Renaissance, Siena, Lucca and Pisa, home of one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world. A city which has retained almost all of its treasures, Florence is a work of art in itself. From the fairytale green and red marble of the Duomo to the Michaelanglo masterpieces in the Galleria dell’Accademia and the famous Uffuzi Gallery, the city wears its past proudly. Its cultural influence resounds today, and the dialect of this area became modern Italian thanks to the work of the great Italian poet Dante. The bustling Ponte Vecchio, reaching across the Arno is famous for its jewellery stores and the restaurants in Florence offer excellent Tuscan cooking – simple and filling.
