X Factor sparks surge in flight searches

The X Factor is influencing people's travel plans. Demand for flights to destinations featured in The X Factor has increased.
The destinations chosen as 'homes' by Cheryl Cole and her fellow X Factor judges have experienced a surge in interest from British holidaymakers. Last weekend saw the judges mentor their chosen contestants overseas.
Flight searches for
Marrakech, chosen by Cheryl Cole as her home, increased by 43 per cent compared to the same time last year, specialists Flight Center told The Times. Meanwhile, demand for flights to
Italy rose by 21 per cent after
Lake Como featured as Louis Walsh's chosen destination.
Many holidaymakers expressed an interest in
LA following Simon Cowell's endorsement - searches for flights to the
Californian city were up by 17 per cent. Dannii Minogue also influenced travellers' behaviour, with
Dubai seeing a growth of seven per cent.
Minogue's stay in Dubai generated significant media interest. The judge was joined by her sister Kylie, who also gave advice to the hopeful contestants. Furthermore, the accompanying film crew was detained by airport officials, who feared they could be producing negative coverage of the emirate.
