Tourists flock to Cambodia
Tourists flock to CambodiaCambodia is set for a tourist boom, with visitor numbers increasing by 20 per cent a year for the next decade, according to officials.

Figures released by the Cambodian Association of Travel Agencies indicate around two million tourists visited the country in 2007 - a 20 per cent rise on the previous year, reports Xinhua.

The website also quotes a report from Chinese language newspaper - the Jianhua Daily - that stated officials in Cambodia expected three million tourists to visit the country in 2010, rising to five million in 2015.

Cambodia is situated in south-east Asia and shares borders with Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

Each November the country holds a "spectacular" water festival, to celebrate the reversal of the current of the Tonle Sap river. The phenomenon is caused by the annual swelling of the larger Mekong river.

Cambodia recently announced it is considering plans by a Spanish company to open a hunting reserve in the country.
