The best beaches on Ibiza

Ibiza has beaches to suit all tastes; whether you're part of a family group, a member of the jet-set or an avid clubber in need of some recuperation, there's a beach for you!
With a total of 80 beaches,
Ibiza is not short of sand, says The Telegraph. With so much choice, there's a beach to appeal to all types of holidaymakers.
Best for families. Feeling "serene, sophisticated and happening all at the same time",
Cala Jondal on the south-west tip of the island is the most relaxed of Ibiza's beaches. With "none of the pretension of some of the other beaches", Cala Jondal is a very welcoming location for families. Housed in a conservation area overlooked by pine-clad hills, Cala Jondal has a beach that slopes gently into the clear waters.
Best for star-spotters. Named after the salt lakes in the south of Ibiza,
Las Salinas is where you will find "the most ostentatious clientele" on the island. Music blares from party bars and "sometimes it can end up as a who's who on the world party scene". The "more beautiful and glamorous set" such as
Jade Jagger and
Kate Moss are often found at the "legendary"
Sa Trinxa Beach Bar where
Balearic beats are played well into the night.
Best for burnt-out clubbers and island-hoppers. The largest of the islands to the south of Ibiza,
Formentara is home to
Playa Mitjorn. On the south coast, this is the largest beach on the island, with white sands and placid seas. It is relatively undeveloped and on some days you can find your own cove. The beach is a "rugged mixture of rocks, grasses and deep sands" and extends across the whole south of Formentara. To get there take a boat from
Ibiza Town and then take a bus or hire a car on the island.
