Stansted airport has strong growth "potential"
Stansted airport is set to boost passenger numbers significantly over the coming years as it continues to grow.A spokesperson for the Airport Operators Association (AOA) confirmed that the airport is benefitting from the growth in the number of people using the airport to enjoy budget short-haul flights to destinations across Europe.
With such increased passenger traffic it is therefore vital for the airport to expand to accommodate more travellers and provide improved facilities for holidaymakers.
"Stansted is the premier hub for low cost aviation in the UK. It's now the third largest airport in the country and clearly it's up against its limit in terms of passenger numbers," the spokesperson said.
"The only thing that will prevent it expanding is whether the authorities say it can't have more passengers going though it because the infrastructure's there to cope with at least another ten million," he added.
A number of leading low-cost carriers including Ryanair and EasyJet offer regular flights to popular holiday destinations in
France,
Spain and other key resorts from the airport.
